ifrins··on Ask HN: What are the Madrid and Barcelona tech scenes like?
Barcelona local here. I don't think that you need Spanish fluency to get into most of the tech jobs. There are many startups whose founders or most of the team aren't locals.
ifrins··on MusicDNA™: Android music player with visualizations using FFT data.
Not the dev, but it seems like this app is using Android's internal audio Visualizer APIs and they require record audio permission even if just visualizing the audio played by the app. https://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/audiof...
ifrins··on How Referral Spam Like lifehacker.com Gets into Google Analytics
I also receive all sorts of spam hits on Google Analytics accounts. My suggestion is to create a filter that only includes the traffic directed to your hostname. It filters pretty much everything. But it's another problem in mobile apps tracking. I've yet to find a solution on mobile. Any suggestions?
ifrins··on Ask HN: Are SPA indexed by Google?
SPA are indeed indexed in Google (and even without providing server side rendered versions). I guess it uses a combination of URL hash changes and pending requests.

I'm a Computer Science & Mathematics freshman looking for a summer internship. I especially interested in back-end and mobile development, but I’m open to other kinds of positions.

I started programming at 11, and since then I haven’t stopped learning new languages, tools, best practices, etc. I’m also passionate about data: everything related to, the so-called, big data, A/B testing, analytics…

I'm currently getting into Ember, Rust, and iOS/OS X development with Swift.

ifrins··on View hidden photos of anyone on Facebook
From what I've briefly seen, it just redirects you from the profile page to this URL: https://www.facebook.com/search/{{fbuid}}/photos-of

where, as you can guess, {{fbuid}} is the id of the user. And yeah, you can view photos from users that you aren't friends with despite that by looking directly at the profile you couldn't view them.

ifrins··on Ask HN: When is the best time to start looking for summer internships?
Out of curiosity, was your first internship in a bigco or a startup?
ifrins··on Show HN: CoinNotify Alerts – Bitcoin price digest emails
Thanks! This was actually my motivation to build it, Bitcoin sometimes can be very volatile and within a short time its value can change substantially.

Currently I'm making use of the data provided by BitcoinAverage, because the market is shared between a few exchanges.

In the future I may implement custom alerts, but I don't see them as a very interesting feature. What I'm working on is on a system that actually detects itself when there's the chance of a substantial decrease in value.

ifrins··on Is Google using depressing CSS with IE?
I don't think this is just directed to IE users, they are probably doing their routinary A/B tests. I've also seen this darker color scheme in the past weeks even though I wasn't using neither Windows nor IE, it was Chrome.
ifrins··on Ask HN: What do you use for code-search now that Google code-search is defunct?
You Can still use Code Search to search Google Code repos, Chromium and Android. http://code.google.com/codesearch
ifrins··on Ask HN: Where should I go on vacation
You could visit Barcelona and some other cities around. There are lots of good restaurants in Barcelona and Catalonia in general (http://www.barcelona.com/barcelona_city_guide/where_to_eat_b...)

Moreover, Barcelona is very nice, the city has got amazing architecture and so on... 100% recommended.
