iamtheworstdev··on Nvidia is the central bank of AI
But Jensen recently proposed a tokenization of GPU power which would be definition be financially rewarded by limiting the supply of GPUs. So I'm not sure how true your proposition will remain moving forward.

iamtheworstdev··on London Gatwick has launched a robotic airport parking service
Atlanta/Hartsfield just opened a new parking deck with those cameras and I bet some fancy as f### AI powered system. 7 level deck, I tried 4 of them before I realized the green/red lights were just randomly switching back in forth, so the total on each floor never reached zero. Fortunately, the top deck was free.

When I got back I walked past the kiosk that said "type in your license plate and locate your car" for those who forgot where they parked, like I did. Typed it in - no car found. (this was a recent trip, out on 07/23 and back on 07/25)

iamtheworstdev··on How to read more books
appreciate the response and not passing judgment, i'm intrigued by this idea because I recently found myself "watching" a podcast by listening at 1.5x speed while also reading the transcripts. but I can't bring myself to pay $20 for a book and $20 for the audiobook to do the same. maybe it's time for a library card.

look up federal agencies borrowing MQ-9s (sorry, I had the wrong drones) from the CBP for domestic operations.

Ugh. People already trying to find ways to gate keep space by raising the financial barrier to entry before we've even been able to capitalize on cheap space flights. I'm sure SpaceX and others will be against this until suddenly, they're not, when they realize they're one of the few that can even afford to pay it.

Like when Amazon finally had warehouses in all fifty states and suddenly quit campaigning against online sales tax.

iamtheworstdev··on SpaceX to buy Cursor for $60B
when you see the list of major investors in Cursor that will never break even if it stays independent, and compare it to the investors in SpaceX, it all makes sense.
iamtheworstdev··on FCC wants to kill burner phones by forcing telecoms to get all customers' IDs
if I remember correctly it involves prepaid debit cards that involved no ID correlation, then you bought sims in person using said debit card which you activated online with any made up address because the prepaid debit cards had no mailing address, so it accepted anything. or you "registered" the prepaid sim online with whatever fake mailing address you wanted.
iamtheworstdev··on Running local models is good now
are you running an NVLink? I have the same setup but no NVLink and it feels like it's best just splitting the 3090s to run separate models concurrently. But I also have no idea what I'm doing.

iamtheworstdev··on FCC wants to kill burner phones by forcing telecoms to get all customers' IDs
In the US it gets fought hard because Wall St uses it to dodge state income taxes. Everyone thinks it's drug dealer related for us, but it's actually Finance bros driving into NYC from out of state (NJ or CT) but trying to hide it.
iamtheworstdev··on SimCity 3k in 4k (2025)
that's actually not true at all. today's homes flash up in a matter of minutes, where as older homes can take nearly a half hour. today's homes are designed to minimize the chance of danger, but in situations like a fire, once they happen they are more dangerous today than they were in the past.

> Things like pilots on flights with autopilot;

Funny, I was going to mention exactly that. I'm a private pilot with a modern autopilot and flying is exhausting. Partly because the piston engine is rattling your brain the entire time but also because you're on high alert the entire time. You're always making sure the autopilot is keeping the plane on the blue (or green) line and is being predictable. And my smartwatch shows my heart rate is usually more elevated on autopilot than not.
