iambot··on Bottle.js - javascript bottle making framework?
what the hell is that - i'm seriously confused. making bottles? ... like as in asctual bottles... I'm still confused
iambot··on A Case Against Using CoffeeScript
That was a brilliant article, the most complete honesty about coffeescript that actually makes sense. After reading it I really felt like coffeescript is cool. but you know what he's got something there. he really does => I'm going to stick to JavaScript ("See what I did there"). thanks;
iambot··on Is there an HN Web Service
what do you mean? like an API?
iambot··on Show HN: Errorception - High performance JavaScript error tracking
As an Aside: I would hope that you're sending back info on the user-agent as well (I only say this because you've not mentioned it).

When an error is encountered it makes all the diffence that it was on a machine running ie7 (as an example).

iambot··on Show HN: Errorception - High performance JavaScript error tracking
Some things off the top of my head:

What info do you report back? What format is it? Do you handle different types of errors? And if so how do you report them? Do you plan on providing an API for devs to retrieve this info?

That's all I can think of on the spot, I just think you know your product better than anyone else, adn if you were trying to convince yourself to use it, surely the 8 point feature list wouldn't cut it.

iambot··on Show HN: Errorception - High performance JavaScript error tracking
If you're product it targeting developers, as I'm sure a "High performance JavaScript error tracking" service would be. I would hope that the "Features" page would be a bit more descriptive of how it works.

While I understand that you don't want to over complicate the features section, the reality is that the people you're targeting should have more than a basic understanding of whats happening, and you should talk to them as such. - Unless you're targeting managers and hoping they will force this on their developers.

Edit: I notice you have _some_ technical info in the FAQ, but my personal opinion is that if you're targeting devs you need MOAR.

tl;dr: Give us more info.

iambot··on Node.js modules you should know about: node-lazy
Thanks ive been hacking about with node and hadn't come across this module yet. Looks super useful.
iambot··on Deadbolt - autoreleasing locks for node.js
ah thanks very much, so its a way of being alerted as to whether my callback has been ignored/lost.
iambot··on Deadbolt - autoreleasing locks for node.js
Could someone please explain to me what this does. I've looked at the repo and the readme, and I dabble in nodejs. But to be honest I have no idea what this does or helps one do.
iambot··on Making Coffeescript’s Whitespace More Significant
I actually agree with everything that is suggested in this submission. I wonder what the best way would be to get it implemented is. Perhaps as a form of feature request poll, to see what the suppor for it is. Or perhaps a call for people that agree to "watch" it on github.
iambot··on Show HN: Please review my new Server-Side JavaScript/CoffeeScript servers
on your features page you've mispelt node, "nod v0.6.2 (via git)"

Edit: just noticed comments below about licencing of N_de etc etc, so I assume this is the reason

iambot··on Ask HN: Anyone want to help improve my film news aggregator?
What kinda help you looking for, Im a designer and front-end (javascript etc) dev. Is the project open source?

Edit: I'd be interested in helping/contributing.

iambot··on GitHire
Dribbble already does it natively: http://dribbble.com/designers
iambot··on The new Alan Turing docudrama is available for streaming
I agree, and as such my comment served the thread by warning those visiting HN, that unless they were looking for a melodrama, it was probably not worth watching. Just my opinion, but that's (part of) what comments are for.
iambot··on GitHire
hmmm, seems I'm entirely irrelevant, with a GitRank of: N/A. Better not tell my employer.

I'm not sure whether this is due to my profile not being indexed or that its rank is so low so as to be negligible.

Would be nice if they explained their ranking system better. (On the site itself)

iambot··on The new Alan Turing docudrama is available for streaming
Meh, I watched it last night, and it left me wanting more. It delt more with Turing dealing with homosexuality than exploring his discoveries in depth.

I was disapointed.

iambot··on Show HN: When is good time to submit a story on HN?
Brilliant work, dont suppose you'd reveal (if you have one), your @twitter handle?
iambot··on Show HN: When is good time to submit a story on HN?
Could the author identify him/herself? I think this is brilliant, and would like to web-stalk/follow whom ever created this. In a purely selfish-selfimprovement manner. :)
iambot··on Show HN: When is good time to submit a story on HN?
I agree with the emphasis (link) on "bad"/"good" being confising, and agree with moving the link to "submit", and actually having an explination behind bad/good.

Still nice despite the catch22 though.

iambot··on Show HN: When is good time to submit a story on HN?
thats pretty cool, as far as using/hackin HN for the best possible result (if thats what one is aiming for).

One this that got me though, in terms of usablity, is that me being at GMT+0 it was hard to determine if the far right of the graph was current or lagging?

but I'll definitely be checking this out in the future for launch planning etc.

iambot··on The ALA 2011 Web Design / Web Worker Survey
> Just who are these people who make websites? What are their titles? What kind of education have they had? What skills do they possess and what skills do their employers imagine they possess? How do they stay current? How happy are they? How well are they paid? How mobile are they, creatively and economically?

I reccomend everyone reading Hacker News that _happens_ to be involved in the web industry should fill this out, to create a broader picture.

iambot··on Money.js is a tiny (1kb) JavaScript currency conversion library for web & nodeJS
I think its just representative of the creators passion for the work being created. If one is to spend a good amount of time and effort in the creation of a library, and they feel its as good as it should be, then it follows that it deserves good presentation. So I agree, but I can imagine it helps to be a competent creative[1], to pull off a good presentation.

iambot··on Pinterest raises $27 million in a round led by Andreessen Horowitz
Congrats to the pinterest team, perhaps they can invest in more servers now ;P
iambot··on Stripe: instant payment processing for developers
Third'd (i reckon stripe should set up a UK notification email/landingpage)

iambot··on Ask HN: Ideas/problems that are hi-tech in nature and hard to implement.
Why not scour gitHub for "technologically difficult" projects to contribute towards? That way you can pick ones suited to your expertise/field-of-knowledge.
iambot··on Code like you're Notch
I WAY prefer this post to the previous post about watching Notch code.
