i_love_limes··on Why Should You Learn Vim in 2020
I'll add that all Jetbrains products (IntelliJ, PyCharm, WebStorm etc) have the IdeaVim plugin which is also great, and it also respects some vimrc configurations too.

I always loved vims movement and editing and hated it's file traversal / project management, so this is a perfect amalgamation

Of course I agree that high density housing is a great for cities. But I think you have conveniently forgot that this thread is about gentrification of existing communities, and not about Greenfield developments.

This is true that gentrification is a problem with increased demand that is not meet with an increase of supply, but untrue in it's solution. You can't infinitely scale up the supply for the same plots of land. You can't even 10x it. Also, this entirely ignores what to do with the people and properties of the area that is being gentrified.

I see this opinion far too often from people who have never studied urban planning and development. It smells like of those 'I took an econ 101 class, let me tell you how the world works' kind of opinions.

I really really implore you to read up on this stuff more. It's clear that you haven't approached the subject of racism with humility, humbleness, or even the possibility that you aren't the best person to know about the issues that other people face.

You are right in a way, I am discounting a person who hasn't felt the effects of racism to fully understand racism and give a good opinion on it. Which seems like a pretty good benchmark? I think your response to this enforces that those who haven't felt it aren't good judges of it.

i_love_limes··on Interview with the Creator of Max/MSP and Pure Data
Yea, I would've thought that was one of the first things to be done after Ableton bought Cycling74 a couple years ago. I suspect more seamless integration will eventually do be though.

I actually did interview there maybe 3 years ago. Did the take home test and was invited in for the multiple interviews. I asked about the Glassdoor reviews and they more or less admitted that is was a 'demanding' environment, much more than my current employer at the time, which was Amazon, if that doesn't say enough
i_love_limes··on Slack Is Going Public at a $16B Valuation
It's strange that you explicitly brought up Uber and still hold this opinion. Out of all the companies, they have most aggressively skirted labour laws in every country they are in, and have been selectively banned from some countries and cities due to their continual breaking of the law. Not to mention lobbying efforts to minimise the effects of labour laws.

They didn't start as a company for the sole purpose of exploiting legal grey areas, but they certainly have consistently done so since their inception.
