iSimone··on Which domain registrar is best?
Well that is a really good question. I have had the same thoughts about consolidation to one, but it's hard since none really offer all domain extenstions I own.

I have been with Godaddy for a long time (before I moved away and got on the train again). It's ugly and a shitty organisation but it just works and is rather cheap.

I have some domains hosted with mediatemple since they had a great 5£/com offer not long ago.

There are a few others out there that I hear often like

namecheap

On this topic it's really interesting to read http://www.marco.org/2011/04/14/why-is-it-so-hard-to-be-a-go...

I guess I could go on and on with the list, but the only thing I can not do so far: give a surefire, perfect and reliable solution. I guess it also comes down to personal preference in the end.

iSimone··on Ask HN: What methods do you use to pitch bloggers about your startup?
Hm I guess it's a hard one to disrupt and if you're at it you might as well disrupt email/online communications I guess. Well my tech blog is fairly new (http://blog.thegodfounder.com) and I don't get these kind of pitches.

The people I pitched to up until recently are not relevant in the tech scene. I guess you could always try @mikebutcher, @zee, @hermioneway etc. and point them here. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind having a solution to the point raised by you.

iSimone··on Ask HN: What methods do you use to pitch bloggers about your startup?
I guess nothing beats prior establishing of good terms with that blogger, but I realize that that might not be possible in most cases.

Emailing a short, informational and friendly piece to that blogger (with a personal note) is probably the easiest bet. If the things you're pitching are good and already online, a tweet may also be enough.

I recently liked (and blogged) this advice here on that topic: http://blog.thegodfounder.com/post/6826152792/email-pitching...

iSimone··on Please stop asking how to find a technical co-founder.
As someone who you're describing I absolutely love the post. I've gotten into WordPress, basic PHP, a lot of frontend stuff and a few projects later I feel confident to actually look a technical cofounder in the eye and say let's do something together.
iSimone··on What laptop bag do you use?
I usually get inspiration from either thefancy.com or etsy.com for these things. It's fascinating how much beautiful self made vs. industrial made stuff you can find. Here's one rather fashionable MB15" bag http://www.travelteq.com/
iSimone··on Ask HN: Who is Hiring? (June 2011)
Two great start-ups out of Berlin are hiring:

- Amen (with the first twitter engineer on board) http://amenhq.com/jobs/ - Gidsy http://gidsy.com/jobs

iSimone··on Ask HN: Please review my weekend project
Looks simple and useful (I don't see me using it, but I know a few people who actually may). Start by sending it to all quote website admins ;)
iSimone··on Ask HN: Apart from Hacker News, what else you read?
I have two things going every morning:

1) I flip through my Reeder app on the iPad which has a mix of blogs in there that either publish far too ofter (like techcrunch) or far too seldom (like avc.com; ok that one's in between). I however try to have a great selection of various topics in there from architecture, design (like swiss-miss.com) to the tech kind-of news.

2) Then I have a selection of apps or Safari bookmarks sitting on my first iPad page that I go through in a bit more detailed fashion. I'm listing them below:

- dribbble.com (dribbblr app)

- quora.com

- forrst.com

- macrumors.com

- thenextweb.com

- flipboard app

- twitter app

Then I'm ready to start the day and go on with it. Not included are philosophical books I try to read, but I don't read nearly as much as I should.

iSimone··on What is the best service to help me negotiate for an already owned domain name?
I think the easiest way would be to do it yourself if it is possible to obtain the owner's info. More personal and you get a feeling for the situation. I would be willing to bet that a personal email or call would be far more effective in triggering a saleswish than just some professional calling.
