iLoveOncall··on Memory executives expect RAM shortage to continue through 2028
He didn't say it's a working kit.
iLoveOncall··on Harvard particle physicist Matthew Schwartz drops 36 papers authored with Claude
No, because the monkeys do end up writing the work correctly. There's absolutely no guarantee that any of those papers are correct in any way.

It literally is just spam, and nothing else.

It's like the Nobel disease: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_disease

iLoveOncall··on Harvard particle physicist Matthew Schwartz drops 36 papers authored with Claude
It's extremely likely that a very high number of Redditors do actually know more/better than a Harvard Particle Physics professor on the topics on which he published papers, which include ecology, health, economy, geology, etc.

This is literal slop.

iLoveOncall··on LinkedIn Larpmaxxing
90% I'd say.
iLoveOncall··on LinkedIn Larpmaxxing
> Sometimes I wonder if my life would be different if I'd had a LinkedIn account. Maybe someone would have reached out 15, 10 or even 5 years ago, especially when some of my skills were in demand!

Just as a frame of reference, my profile on LinkedIn is not marked as "Looking for jobs" and I receive multiple recruiter messages every week, often one per day.

Not having LinkedIn is not really a viable option nowadays (unfortunately), unless you know you're in an extremely stable job that you plan to stay at for decades to come (which you can never know).

iLoveOncall··on LinkedIn Larpmaxxing
Then you go check the author's profile on LinkedIn and see that he also posts slop most of the time...
iLoveOncall··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
I have all that and LLMs invariably produce garbage, so, no.
iLoveOncall··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
> The opposite would be weird: if they do NOT have an unreleased in-house model that would be really odd.

This isn't at all what I said. The original commenter mentioned a model MUCH stronger than Astra.

iLoveOncall··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
> Also it lets you build things no one else in the world can build as fast as you until it's released

"We can generate slop faster than anyone in the world" :evil_emoji:

iLoveOncall··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
Yes, and none of those tasks require even the current SOTA models.
iLoveOncall··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
No? The top of human engineers are much better than any model would be, so AI models really aren't a big advantage when you're trying to develop anything that is SOTA.
iLoveOncall··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
> its not done training, why would they release a model that hasn't finished training?

Because clearly they have no problem with releasing newer versions of models even just a week apart.

> besides, we know anthropic are sitting on models too

It is from your crystal ball or from other bullshit you heard from Anthropic employees on Twitter?

We all know Anthropic had Mythos and Fable, and they turned out to be completely normal models, entirely in line with the capability of their predecessors.

All they do is lie, and you're believing their lies.

iLoveOncall··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
> We already know OpenAI has "bel" that is MUCH better than astra and is being used internally

You're just believing their own bullshit. There's no indication that this is true except from claims from people working at OpenAI.

If they really had a much more powerful model, it would make absolutely no sense to sit on it.

iLoveOncall··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
> scheming about something else like regulatory capture to protect their market.

This but they also equate dangerous with powerful, which is just marketing again.

iLoveOncall··on Fakecloud: Local AWS cloud emulator for integration tests
> Both fakecloud and its website look sloppily vibe-coded

As if the MiniStack website wasn't also obviously vibe-coded lol.

iLoveOncall··on One Month Without AI
Ease of implementation is a decent indicator of good design. If you're delegating implementation to a machine that WILL implement whatever you ask it to implement, however badly designed it is, you don't get that signal at all.
iLoveOncall··on One Month Without AI
Only a fool would believe that without actively coding you can produce good designs. If you don't code, your overall software engineering skills are atrophying.
iLoveOncall··on One Month Without AI
Yet another nonsensical comparison to attempt to legitimate reckless AI use.

No, playing an instrument VS making electronic music has absolutely no comparison to writing code by hand or with AI.

You're comparing the difference between a motor skill and a knowledge-based competency, with the difference between two knowledge-based competencies.

iLoveOncall··on One Month Without AI
I encourage everyone who is heavily coding with AI to try even a single hour without AI at all. You will be SHOCKED at how your skills have atrophied.
iLoveOncall··on Jev in 25 Lines of Python
> Example why its legit:

Nowhere in your example do you claim that it's written in X lines of code, so that's perfectly fine.

Don't tell me something takes 25 lines of code if it obviously takes much more.

Can you replicate Jev from A to Z in 25 lines? No. Then don't claim to be doing so.

iLoveOncall··on Jev in 25 Lines of Python
Nothing I hate more than bullshit articles claiming X in Y lines of code, only to use libraries abstracting hundreds of thousands of lines of code.
iLoveOncall··on WordPress: Unauthenticated path traversal leading to conditional RCE
I think you can render Disqus on static websites, but Disqus is its own piece of crap so not sure you'd want to.
iLoveOncall··on WordPress: Unauthenticated path traversal leading to conditional RCE
WordPress really is a piece of garbage software, and if you've ever developed plugins for it it is soooo apparent.

The documentation is a perfect reflection of the absolute mess of spaghetti code that it is, half of the methods that you will use constantly when developing plugins are undocumented, even untyped. It's literally unusable.

I know WordPress is good thanks to its ecosystem, but really, really, do NOT use it.

iLoveOncall··on Frontier Labs Are Selling Garbage to Fools in Washington
> + every layperson is an expert in 1 or more areas.

What do you think 70 years old career politicians are an expert in that would allow them to weigh whether a chatbot's answers are bullshit or not.

iLoveOncall··on Teen Social Media Bans Miss the Point
The people introducing those laws and the people financing them. Meta is the biggest lobbyist in the US for this, why do you think that is?
iLoveOncall··on Teen Social Media Bans Miss the Point
They don't care about social media bans, they care about linking users to their government ID.

It's baffling to me that anyone has still not realized that.

iLoveOncall··on Dropbox's Jan 1st 2027 terms of service
This has nothing to do with that. They probably realized that teenagers are a small enough portion of their userbase that the loss of revenue (and probably lack thereof to be fair) is far outweighed by the opportunity to ask users for their ID.
iLoveOncall··on GPT-6 Astra Solves a WWI German Radio Cipher
They just solve problems that nobody has tried to solve in the past 50 years and then announce them as breakthroughs.
iLoveOncall··on Intelligence per Watt: Measuring Intelligence Efficiency of Local AI
This has absolutely nothing to do with the problem at end. I'm so tired of people bringing up random metaphors that don't apply to justify obvious bullshit when it comes to AI.
