hyung··on Ask HN: got to 33 in the App Store. Now what?
If I were in your position, I'd do a few things simultaneously:

- Cut the price to $1.99.

- Contact as many app review sites and forums as possible and tell them that, thanks to support from the community, you've decided to reduce the price for a few days, and give away a few copies of the game.

- Give the sites promo codes that they can give away/promote for you.

Generally speaking, I've found that total revenue remains about the same regardless of your price. But what you have is a relatively interesting talking point (spike in sales) that you may be able to use to get other people to promote the game for you.

(I've previously had a game in the top 10 paid games.)

hyung··on I hired 50 people today. This is what they look like
Hey ashishk, sorry for using HN to contact you, but I can't seem to find your contact info anywhere.

Our company provides very affordable and accurate photo approval services. Photos are manually approved and we can handle anywhere from 10-1,000,000 photos per day. If you're interested, feel free to email me (email address is in my profile).

hyung··on Ask HN: What are worthwhile extracurricular activities in college?
Depends on your major. If you're a business major, and are thinking of being an entrepreneur in the software industry, pick extracurriculars that are CS-related. And vice-versa.

With any luck, you'll be able to meet potential business partners with skill sets that complement yours.

hyung··on Ask HN: What is the going rate for developing an iPhone app?
I've found it's easy to find relatively small projects (1 good engineer, 1-2 months), but more difficult to find larger projects.

I generally advise potential clients not to expect too much from the App Store (~$30K-$40K revenue for a "good" game that's featured by Apple for a short time), unless they get lucky.

Our company is based in Vietnam and self-published a relatively successful iPhone game recently. Using it as our foot-in-the-door, we've been seeing ~$80/hour for smaller projects requiring 1-2 very talented engineers, and ~$40/hour for larger projects requiring more engineers.
