When I was growing up, calling somebody a "boy" was shorthand for "aimbot", essentially "oh this guy's so unrealistically good that he must be hacking"
Now the same phrase means "you are a rudimentary program meant to fill space and lose in large lobbies"
The fact that they are so different says a lot about backtracking in technological necessities, but also a huge culture shift towards engagement driven game design, lack of reverence for skill, etc.
An all hands where a director lays out a strategy that was already laid out in an email and will be reiterated in another email and also will be the OKRs? Sure that's relevant to my work but I'm not going to say anything, but nobody can really say they have better things to do that go to the directors meeting about the whole purpose of our job (even if it doesn't change my personal work)
Or even sometimes things like stand-ups where half the people are going to say something along the lines of "working on the same thing I've been working on all week with slight incremental progress"
How do you know? At this scale tax avoidance schemes often completely prevent this.
Yes, exactly. You're forgetting Hollywood accounting. Spending 1 dollars to somebody, 9 dollars to your other companies and saving 3 dollars later is netting you 2 dollars.
There is a news article about this because we all know this is not normal and this is extremely awful.
The wealthy people own the hardware, the devs own the app. Why does apple get the legal right to demand money in that transaction when it would be better for everyone if they weren't involved
This is going to end up being the music industry all over again. It's going to be impossible for any individuals or small companies to get the rights needed, and instead were going to get massive content labels selling the rights, or only giant corporations being able to hop through all these new hoops.
We don't want a repeat of that as a society, creating yet another leeching middleman and horrible industry favoring only the incumbents.
I miss terse but descriptive headlines. Everything now has to be 11/10 wild or clickbait that doesn't actually give a full piece of information.
When people ask why I don't like copilot and want a worse alternative when copilot "pays for itself", it's not because I don't want to pay, I just want to buy something and have it.
Oh come on. No, you didn't just happen to have this whimsical thought while somebody drove you to a random place that you ended up writing about.
The author is a journalist that got paid to go to this venue and intentionally did so. There was no happenstance here.
I'm sick of things being rewritten to be some lucky random experience. Don't lie to your reader, your did the thing for a reason, act like it and give a fair writeup.

The plants that are being neglected aren't unknown, they are just not as useful
> Jfc. Plants aren't just for food.
Nobody said they were. Stop inventing strawman arguments
> indigenous people dwindle from the planet, their knowledge of useful plants disappears and their potential becomes lost on us.
Source required. What important plant knowledge is being lost?
> NOT big enough; that it can’t be wiped away from the surface earth; with a relatively cyber attack from the Alliance. In fact; Google/YouTube will just be one; of 63 communist controlled platforms; that will be completely erased from existence once the order is given.
