hyghjiyhu··on Steam, Itch.io are pulling ‘porn’ games. Critics say it's a slippery slope
I guess from the down votes I'm getting that people don't have the full context here and won't seek it out on their own - something I should have foreseen.

I'm speaking of Hikaru Nakamura, who is one of the best chess players in the world. He is also a streamer on kick, and actually talks in the way I demonstrated. It's not an exaggeration, he actually repeats the same thought ~5 times in the regular.

He is the only kick streamer I know, so that's what I think of when I hear kick.

I've watched hikaru on kick and the only offensive thing about his stream is how he repeats himself. I don't really like how he says the same thing over and over. Chat, it's kinda starting to bother me how he repeats himself. Yeah I'm starting to think he repeats himself a bit too much for my taste.

It seems your argument applies to fashion in general. But fashion is a well known phenomenon. How then can your argument be valid?
hyghjiyhu··on Man wearing metallic necklace dies after being sucked into MRI machine
The machine itself should be able to detect that something anomalous is happening to the magnetic field as it is doing work on the metal item and immediately cut power.
hyghjiyhu··on How to handle people dismissing io_uring as insecure? (2024)
From my perspective python3 migration is very much complete. Package managers is the evergreen mess now.
hyghjiyhu··on OpenAI claims gold-medal performance at IMO 2025
People can't explain their reasoning either. People do a parallel construction of logical arguments for a conclusion they already reached intuitively in a way they have no clue how it happened. "The idea just popped into my head while showering" to our credit, if this post-hoc rationalization fails we are able to change our opinion to some degree.

They probably have an archived data set from before then that they trained on.

You can make predictions of many different things though. Building a quantifiable track record. If one person is consistently confidently wrong then that says something about their ability and methodology
hyghjiyhu··on AirPods succeed by not selling you a new pair
For me it's 3.5mm over ears. I'm not an audiophile, but it bothers me went when the sound cuts out half a second because of Bluetooth issues.
hyghjiyhu··on Overtourism in Japan, and how it hurts small businesses
Your fallacy is that you are implicitly thinking of yourself as an intrinsically evil corrupting force that should be minimized as much as possible, in fact it would be better if you didn't exist at all.

This is a very bleak misanthropic view that isn't true. It's possible to be a force for good. To form a symbiosis where each side benefits from the other. If you see a native resident, do you think he is perfectly pure, content and happy? Or does he have his troubles and issues. How can you help him? Entertain? Teach? Trade?

hyghjiyhu··on The day someone created 184 billion Bitcoin (2020)
Your critique is valid but outdated. This happened way back in 2010. Satoshi disappeared a long time ago now.

There are still influential people, but none with the authority of Satoshi himself.

hyghjiyhu··on So you wanna build an aging company
Perhaps it was unwise to use the term dna damage yes. I used it to mean any deviation from the initial dna of the fertilized egg, including breakage, point mutations, missing chromosomes, viral insertions and probably more I can't think of right now.

Edit: I suppose those are all called mutations. Somehow I thought mutation meant a small local change only.

hyghjiyhu··on So you wanna build an aging company
From an anti aging perspective, cancer is the most visible symptom of DNA gradually becoming more and more damaged.

The anti aging solution that happens to solve cancer as a side effect is then to figure out how to repair DNA damage, and/or replace cells with damaged DNA with cells with intact DNA.

hyghjiyhu··on The average chess players of Bletchley Park and AI research in Britain
The true definition of AGI is unfortunately "I know it when I see it". Any technical definition is provisional and achieves precision at the expense of the high risk of being simply wrong. That's not to say it lacks value. Finding how and when the provisional is wrong is itself a valuable insight bringing us closer to AGI.
hyghjiyhu··on Price of rice in Japan falls below ¥4k per 5kg
Divided by 1000, not 365. So they eat just shy of 3 such portions a day.
hyghjiyhu··on How can AI researchers save energy? By going backward
Idk how accurate it is by my mental model of this would be that electricity is like a liquid and when you flip the switch, it drains out of the components creating heat through friction.
hyghjiyhu··on Beware of Fast-Math
One thing I wonder is what happens if you have an inline function in a header that is compiled with fast math by one translation unit and without in another.
hyghjiyhu··on The wake effect: As wind farms expand, some can ‘steal’ each others’ wind
As you say it obviously reduces the wind speed. But what is not obvious is whether the reduction is negligible or not, and what problems it could lead to. How much fields hamper each other. Whether it messes with bird ability to glide on updrafts, sailing, water aeration.

Fortunately it seems to be fine from these perspectives.
