Its kind of funny how it’s the exact same discussion as we used to have about privacy in the advent of social media. "I’m not worried, I got nothing to hide!" The convenience benefits of Facebook (in the beginning, likely less nowadays) massively outweighed the privacy concerns of the layman or woman.
Why would the concept of senior disappear in 8 years? I am a senior, and work with seniors that have been seniors for 20 years. In 8 years we will still be seniors.
Hard agree. Nothing more offputting than being labeled and categorized like the corporate overlords are playing AeO II and I’m a "resource" to be acquired, harvested, used and/or discarded.
Pick up a (combat) sport. It’s the only thing AI can’t touch/ruin in any meaningful way. At least until robotics get to human level or better, and still then I don’t think robots playing football or doing jiu-jitsu is something people are gonna enjoy participating in or watch. Much like there is no market to watch two non-humans play chess, because who cares other than for benchmarking performance or some ulterior motive.
Really well put. I’ve learned this lesson the hardest possible way over ten years. Still struggling with accepting that things are wrong and that I can’t and shouldn’t try to fix them all, as much as I think I could.
Isn’t it technically in their favor if competition is proven bad, even if it would be equally easy to prove their product likely equally bad or even worse?
As much as I agree with everything you said I can’t just let it die. If I’m on public transport without juice I may get fined for not having a ticket. There is no non-smartphone-on option available in my country anymore.
And they were and are of course right to feel those feelings, but it doesn't change the fact that the world is changing. Rarely do large changes benefit everyone in the world.
Agent-assisted coding (AAC) is what I call it. Everyone else around me just calls it vibe-coding. I think this is going to be like "cyber" that we tried to refuse for so long.
Claude told me the exact opposite. Always claims that Python or JavaScript is the best choice because its training corpus is so much larger than the alternatives.
Its also because they are only as good as they are with their given skills. If you tell them "code <advandced project> and make no x and y mistakes" they will still make those mistakes. But if you say "perform a code review and look specifically for x and y", then it may have some notion of what to do. That's my experience with using it for both writing and reviewing the same code in different passes.
How does this work though? Do you have around 4 hours worth of work you report on? Are you paid for more than 4 hours? I’m so curious when people throw completely alien statements like this out like it’s something that doesn’t even warrant explanation.
How does the analogy work with music though? Are you saying that because there is now over-produced pop there is now less rock, jazz or whatever you prefer? If so, is that actually true and verifiable by numbers?
Wouldn't it be easier and/or faster to create a userscript? I've "vibe coded" tens myself, but never really saw the use case for making a full extension out of any of them. Genuinly curious what you made.
