huslage··on Pirating the Pirates
The Art of Internet Pedantry™
huslage··on RSA-896
No one does this. There is zero value, economic or otherwise, in turning off machines.
huslage··on Re-Engineering YouTube for the Living Room: Bringing "Chrobalt" to RDK
People watch YouTube on their TV. Having an independent rendering engine makes the TV OS's garbage stuff go away from the perspective of YouTube's app.
huslage··on Omacom Foundation launches with $8M
Your straw man is rather weak. Would you like to try again? This isn't a distro. Distros build software, maintain packages, fix bugs, support kernel versions.

The $8m would have been better spent on giving it to Arch directly than this grifty pretty face.

huslage··on Omacom Foundation launches with $8M
I don't care about the "distro" (ahem), I care about the $8m being poured into it.
huslage··on We Tracked a Shipment of Rare Books. It Ended at an Amazon AI Training Facility
That ruling is questionable at best according to several lawyers that I've spoken to. I hope that one of them will write about it soon.
huslage··on Grand jury declines to indict Ohio man charged with destroying Flock camera
Axon makes drones and tasers and all sorts of other stuff too. Body cameras that are not publicly available at the time of recording are useless theater.
huslage··on Omacom Foundation launches with $8M
Fans attached to ideology and silliness. I don't care if people like it or not, $8m is a ridiculous sum of money for this.
huslage··on Omacom Foundation launches with $8M
"what the malleable computer of the future looks like" ??? Excuse me? This is just a linux shell script repository. What is the point of having $8m to maintain a shell script?
huslage··on Grand jury declines to indict Ohio man charged with destroying Flock camera
Flock should be killed. Axon should be killed. Neither are useful to society in any way.
huslage··on We Tracked a Shipment of Rare Books. It Ended at an Amazon AI Training Facility
There's no copyright law that requires the owner of a copy of a book to destroy it. What are you talking about?
huslage··on Semaglutide linked to lower predicted dementia risk
I had similar issues on Semaglutide, but I've found Tirzepatide much more tolerable. I've lost 165lbs, A1C has gone down to 5, I have more energy at 52 than I did at 32, and I am exercising like a maniac now. Maybe you could try it?
huslage··on Our position on open-weights models
Dario, as always, is so deeply in the middle of a morass that he helped to create that he doesn't seem to understand how geopolitics currently operates. He also assumes that just because he's from the US that he is somehow automatically more trustworthy than <insert "evil" country here> is. This blog post is a political document geared towards further regulatory capture and the furtherance of major sources of revenue for his company.

I'm not convinced that he is at all interested in the social or existential effects that AI causes. He is a greedy bastard who has taken more VC money than god to do this with. He has zero moral leg to stand on, IMO. He gave that away ages ago and I wish this technique didn't work as well as it does.

huslage··on Mullvad and Daniel Berntsson's Failed Cleanup
In spite of what you might think, Nazi sympathizers do not have valid opinions and should be shunned by everyone.
huslage··on Starlink unlimited aviation plan to rise from $10k/month to $20k
The "upcoming" is doing a lot of work. There is not currently a viable alternative to Starlink with the same capability, speed, or latency. Amazon Leo will be the next to go online and it won't be fully operational until sometime in 2028. No one in the aviation industry will want to wait for that.
huslage··on Alternate clock designs and time systems
Time is a figment of our imagination
huslage··on The Wholesale Plagiarism of Obscure Sorrows
YouTube's take down infrastructure exists to prop up ad revenue. It was created by the industry and imposed on YouTube. There is no ad revenue on an App Store (to speak of) to protect so Google has no incentive to impose restrictions there that are purely DMCA-based. The incentives are misaligned between the app makers and the app distributors...structurally so.
huslage··on Apple reveals new AI architecture built around Google Gemini models
They appear to be running them on both GCP and in their datacenter.
huslage··on Apple reveals new AI architecture built around Google Gemini models
They are not _only_ using Google Cloud. They continue to build and invest in their own datacenters. It's not a binary choice.
huslage··on CBP Directive 3340-049B: Border Search of Electronic Devices
It ONLY applies to citizens. The CBP cannot deny an American citizen entry into the country for any reason. They cannot compel a citizen to unlock their devices. All bets are off for non-citizens, sadly.
huslage··on GPT‑Rosalind for life sciences research
I work for a life sciences company. It will be a long time before anyone trusts a generative model to do the actual science when mathematically provable models are as good as they are today. There is room for AI in the field, but it's not in the science directly.
huslage··on Cal.com is going closed source
Cal.com is failing. This is a rugpull with an AI excuse.
huslage··on My Google Workspace account suspension
I use my own OIDC connection to Tailscale. I don't use a third party for login. It's not hard to set up.
huslage··on OpenAI Acquires TBPN
I've never heard of TBPN but it appears to be an AI sports network of some sort??
huslage··on Open source CAD in the browser (Solvespace)
DIY sleep monitoring? Tell us more!
huslage··on [dead]
You didn't read anything.
huslage··on Apple discontinues the Mac Pro
Apple makes AI inference and training servers by the thousands. They just don't sell them to anyone. They use them internally in their datacenters. They didn't drop the ball, they are playing a different game while not cannibalizing their existing customer base.
huslage··on FCC has banned the import of all new foreign-made routers here's what you can do
That act does not require the FCC to issue any blanket ruling like this. And the "unaccceptable risk" provision is legally dubious at best.
huslage··on Trivy under attack again: Widespread GitHub Actions tag compromise secrets
How the heck are credential compromises still a thing with 2FA and refresh tokens???
huslage··on Agents that run while I sleep
How do you limit access like that?
