The ESP32 microcontroller has 320Kb of RAM, and a dual core 240MHz CPU. It's is one of the most useful microcontrollers out there.

64MB and 1GHz CPU is a lot more and a lot faster, so IOT and edge-computing are able to process data locally.

Wow, so many people who lack the skills to be a manager dismissing it. I've worn several hats during my time, and doing manager stuff was the hardest. Dealing with interpersonal relations on the team, managing expectations from internal and external clients. Translating tech speak to and from marketing speak. Running code reviews, etc, etc.

It's a hard job. And there are a lot of people that are bad at it that get put in that role anyway. A good manager does way more than you'll ever see, because he's dealing with a world of crap so work can be done.

It so much easier to sit and work on one programming task than to try to keep an eye on all the "big picture" and "small picture" stuff at once.

Once I had a programmer who had an idea for a different data structure for one of our code bases that made generating the objects faster, as the cost of slowing read time a bit. He couldn't fathom the idea that even though his new structure would be good for HIM, the other teams that process that data are not going to be happy if each read is slower.

"Hey, lower paid employees you're fied, but now you now work for FooBar Services, and we've hired FooBar to do the work you're currently doing."

Thus lowering their ration and tax obligations.

These jealousy based taxes are insane and have to stop.

mdam + LVM + ext4 does everything I need to do and more. Thin and thick provisioning, ssd caching, snapshots. If I were to use another file system it would be something like ceph or glusterfs.

Maybe they should build something other than luxury condos. But that would require SF to change their insane zoning laws. And SF cares more about zoning laws than they do about people.

A good packaging system for C/C++ would go a long way. CPAN, php pear, pip, go get, etc, etc. all have at least decent package management, support for third part repos, and ways to add a package without using the manager for things you've manually downloaded / coded yourself.

Trying to get multiple C packages from third parties all working together is rough compared to other languages. Rust has me a little spoiled, I guess.

This is why "plug in hybrid" is such an attractive setup. You can get a decent EV only range, and then hybrid like MPG once that's exhausted.
