huflungdung··on Reverse engineering my e-scooter and rewriting the firmware in Rust
Clearly you are in the past. I have reverse engineered some very difficult undocumented things. I can not go in to details but these were heavily hardened hardware. Custom SoC. of course without datasheets, involved multiple different levels of encryption and architectures of connected devices, broke all of it. All that is left is cryptocell pwn.

With very little steering from me

Oh no. Someone can view cctv data and delete it. Always blown out of proportion. The likelihood of someone a) committing a crime or otherwise b) knowing there was this specific brand of camera software being run on a camera in that area c) knowing how to access these portals

Is basically zero.

huflungdung··on Could the XZ backdoor been detected with better Git/Deb packaging practices?
This was a devops exploit because they used the same env for building the app as they did for the test code. Many miss this entirely and think it is because a binary was shipped.

Ideally a test env and a build env should be entirely isolated should the test code some how modify the source. Which in this case it did.
