htilford··on Poll: What OS do you prefer for Web Development?
Safari issues are rare (if it works in Chrome it pretty much works in Safari). IE issues on the other hand . . . which is why when I'm doing serious web development where I care about reaching all users, I prefer to use windows so I can quickly debug Chrome, Firefox and IE(s).

htilford··on The Node.js Community is Quietly Changing the Face of Open Source
It's not about language, it's about the module ecosystem. Less Node.js vs Ruby vs Python more npm vs gem vs pip
htilford··on Mozilla TowTruck – real-time collaboration on any site
Mozilla is already running Persona free at scale. If they let WebRTC do most the heavy lifting I don't see why they would have any issues running TowTruck free at scale.
htilford··on An Engineer's take on Chrome OS
I've been using https://github.com/chjj/tty.js/ to vim on my pixel, with tty.js running on my linode.

htilford··on Locating CPU-intensive code in Node.js
by default nodetime reports back to nodetime.com to display the results. But that's just the default. It can be set to report to any server and/or the console.
htilford··on FYI: No JIT on Windows 8 for ARM
Yes, Nacl supports JIT. Mozilla could port Firefox to Nacl so it could run a Chromebook.

not without it's usual validation which makes it non trivial to implement.

htilford··on Meteor is now MIT licensed
I don't think 'better' is the right question. Their's room for multiple frameworks. To answer the question I think Meteor's strong suit is live coding for rapid prototyping.
htilford··on Happy Easter CSS3 animation
it's likely only 1000 lines of less, sass, scss, or stylus which can be well organized into modules and output compressed css if bandwidth is a concern. It would also be possible to only deliver the css applicable to the user's browser (the vast majority of the lines are redundancies due to vendor prefixes). I don't see it being the case that you couldn't optimize the file size down to about the same size as the equivalent jQuery animation.
htilford··on Google I/O registration is "very soon"
They'll always be able to get in. Which isn't a problem. The problem is buisness guys outnumbering technical guys. Reducing their numbers is all that's required.
htilford··on Reactor-based framework versus Node.js streaming
The worst part is that they all end up showing their multicore program is faster than a single threaded node program. I haven't seen a single one use cluster.
htilford··on Please Steal These webOS Features
My favorite is actually the back swipe on the Veer (WebOS). It's a left moving swipe on the bottom bevel. It took me a little while to realize it existed, but now that I've learned it it's a joy to use.
htilford··on Hey Uber, I Like Your Ride… But Not Sure It's Worth The $143 You Charged Me
How long did you wait for your ride? How long would you have had to wait for an alternative ride? What's your time and comfort worth?

I'll assume you knew what the base price was, and where willing to pay that. Where was your maximum price that would cause you to find an alternative ride?

htilford··on Why don't they implement Python and Ruby on the web browsers?
Interesting questions don't have definitive answers.

htilford··on Node.js modules you should know about: dnode

htilford··on ‘Tis the season for Chromebooks
Chromeos isn't about offering more features. It's about offering less problems.
htilford··on ‘Tis the season for Chromebooks
I use Google+ at least 10 times each day on my Chromebook (series 5). It's a touch slow, but hardly unusable.

It's the flash slowdowns that bother me occasionally, but even there it's rarely unusable.

htilford··on ‘Tis the season for Chromebooks
Netflix is a native app on the Chromebook, written in C.
htilford··on Node.js is good for solving problems I don’t have
If JavaScript is such junk why hasn't any other language displaced it?
htilford··on Node.js is good for solving problems I don’t have
What part of JSON isn't a subset of JavaScript?

"JSON is a subset of the object literal notation of JavaScript. Since JSON is a subset of JavaScript, it can be used in the language with no muss or fuss." http://www.json.org/js.html

htilford··on Node.js v0.6.0 is released
'huge chuck' is an understatement. Windows is the majority OS.
