hsuduebc2··on Returning from vacation? The government can search your phone without a warrant
Well they did but I would be willing to bet that their successors will not remove laws allowing this. They may relieve it little bit but why would they remove such potentially valuable tool?

Government always want to have as much control as it can possibly acquire.

hsuduebc2··on Nvidia wants to put a watchdog chip next to every AI agent
We are suppose to believe that they miraculously invented this chip few weeks after these incidents? C'mon.
hsuduebc2··on AI companies in race to demonstrate their model most threatening to humanity
It's very good, all new models are excellent but it's still very far from what they presented as a general AI which solves all our problems.
hsuduebc2··on US criticises Australia's proposed algorithm opt-out laws as 'censorship'
Truly the greatest.
hsuduebc2··on LinkedIn wins court order blocking mass scraping of user data
This site which I sadly must use from time to time is truly one of the most pretentious annoying places on the web.
hsuduebc2··on GitHub has not removed malicious imitation software after 3 weeks
Just send DMCA if you want their attention, they act harshly and quickly. Even when it's false one.
hsuduebc2··on US criticises Australia's proposed algorithm opt-out laws as 'censorship'
I think most of the people at this moment, rightfully, perceive this as an circus.
hsuduebc2··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
Same here. I do not see any ad's, not counting occasional push notification from apps which are there mostly due to my laziness.
hsuduebc2··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
There is no other reason to use this apps other than convenience which is keep getting smaller and pricier.
hsuduebc2··on Mark Zuckerberg: "Cambridge Analytica" (2017)
I'm curious. Why this is not a relevant comparison? They are intentionally selling something harmful even to children with intent to someone become addicted.
hsuduebc2··on XCancel service is suspended until further notice
Exactly. I do not use it at all and other than never ending propaganda or ridiculous ragebaiting claims I miss nothing of importance.
hsuduebc2··on Mark Zuckerberg: "Cambridge Analytica" (2017)
I would be glad if you didn't do it but I wouldn't expect nothing else from childrens crack dealer.
hsuduebc2··on Mark Zuckerberg: "Cambridge Analytica" (2017)
Just to be clear, I absolutely agree with you but corporations are made solely to create a profit and it tends to be lower when one is ethical. I would love if these companies act more responsibly, I would be very glad even for bare minimum eg. not causing harm actively but I just don't expect it. Because their sole existence is usually profit. Not public wellbeing. The "Increasing Shareholder value" is a joke because I noticed that some people are using this unironically.
hsuduebc2··on Mark Zuckerberg: "Cambridge Analytica" (2017)
You can't expect that malicious actor would be fighting against malicious actors that are increase shareholder value. Tbh at this point it's governments fault. You can't expect British American Tobacco to fight against smoking. It's not really their job. Their job is increasing said shareholder value.
hsuduebc2··on Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?
Somehow I would never assume that X would act "moral". Google on the other hands even few years back was generally acknowledged as a good actor which was once again corporate charade people would fall for. Including myself.
hsuduebc2··on Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?
It simply increases shareholder value more than if they we're removed. It will only ends when companies will be made at least partially responsible for damages they help to facilitate. Don't be evil my ass.
hsuduebc2··on Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?
You can target by specific system or even a version. This is simply google tolerated malicious behavior because it brings them revenue.
hsuduebc2··on Instagram's head says engagement falls by half without the algorithm
Both are proven to be addictive and harmful.
hsuduebc2··on Instagram's head says engagement falls by half without the algorithm
This is simply 21. century Tabbaco industry with all it had. The glamour, controversy and now the fall.
hsuduebc2··on Instagram's head says engagement falls by half without the algorithm
Everytime I stumble upon search on ANY meta made platform I'm dazzled by how anyone can make simple search such a shit feature. Messanger search is ridiculously not working for ten years now.
hsuduebc2··on Instagram's head says engagement falls by half without the algorithm
>Children will be smoking less if you don't offer them cigarettes
hsuduebc2··on More questions about whether researchers can trust OpenAI with unpublished math
What was it?
hsuduebc2··on More questions about whether researchers can trust OpenAI with unpublished math
Surely a tool that can reason, cheat, communicate and often steal is dumb as a pitchfork and a shovel.
hsuduebc2··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
I feel this is assuming that the private ventures will not willingly cooperate and can't be forced to comply other than through warrants.
hsuduebc2··on Sort branches by last commit date
Heh. "Just Google it" answers we're never particular conversation lubricant as they are not now. But of course you are right we live in age of wonder once again.
hsuduebc2··on Sort branches by last commit date
Thanks!
hsuduebc2··on Judge rules Trump administration’s blacklisting of Anthropic was illegal
At this point, it seems pretty obvious to me that every group in this conflict is willing to do basically whatever it takes to push through what it wants. Both sides do it so clumsily and stupidly that they only end up pissing off both observers and their opponents even more. Consensus can never really be reached, because the whole point of these theatrics is the fight itself.

I’m not American, so I’m not used to this kind of thing at all, which makes it even stranger for me to watch one group roleplaying as deeply religious while at the same time embodying arrogance, greed, and a lust for power, while on the other side you have people fighting for equality so hard that it eventually turns into plain old racism, sexism, and mental gymnastics, with definitions of words and concepts being constantly changed just to make them fit into an already flimsy theory meant to explain why the patriarchy or some similar nonsense is supposedly to blame for everything.

I’m genuinely curious to see how the conflict between these two groups develops from here. It just keeps getting more and more absurd.

hsuduebc2··on Nitter and XCancel receive cease and desist notices
That's why I call it trash. It's a mine field, you can probably learn to walk in a minefield too when you are extra careful while only occasionally stepping on one but it is still designed to cause you harm. Not really something I would call useful, it can probably be engaging for some but that's it.
hsuduebc2··on Nitter and XCancel receive cease and desist notices
Except for the fact that this doesn't work. This platform always trying to nudge you to engage in any way possible. These "not hidden features" are not working properly, it always spawn back after some time.

hsuduebc2··on Nitter and XCancel receive cease and desist notices
I understand it's me but I always pause when I see some ridiculous russian propaganda or idiotic politic commentaries. Weird thing is, that I always everytime click on I'm not interested but it rarely works. Instead of stopping showing me any propaganda or politics at all it usually just switches to the opposite pole of same theme. I would gladly be using it if it be basically be hn with pictures.
