hsson··on [dead]
Just FYI, this article is from January.
hsson··on Unironically using Kubernetes for my personal blog
I wholeheartedly agree with everything said in this blog post. The real downside to using k8s for a personal blog or hobby project is that it's so damn expensive. I did try rolling my own k8s using k3s and some Raspberry Pis, but that quickly became annoying to maintain and to get up and running in the first place.
hsson··on Code Health: Make Interfaces Hard to Misuse (2018)
Isn't this basically the point of the builder pattern?
hsson··on DeGoogle My Life
Agreed. This post seems like it's more about getting rid of proprietary software and replace it with free and open-source software, which admittedly is a lot harder.
hsson··on Bill English: Computer mouse co-creator dies at 91
I remember learning about him in uni.. RIP Bill
hsson··on Tech Journalism Is Less Diverse Than Tech
Sorry but "18% other" just doesn't seem fair to write. Come on, an article about diversity that just groups ~1/5 into "other"...
hsson··on Ask HN: OCR framework for extracting formatted text?
Consider looking into language models such as KenLM. It is used by ASR models like wav2letter and DeepSpeech to correct speech-to-text transcripts
hsson··on Show HN: Solid, a free and MIT licensed design system / UI kit for Bootstrap 4
Unfortunately I couldn't disagree more. You do not really need JQuery any more, as JS has matured. I just see it as wasted loading time.
hsson··on Show HN: I made a site that aggregates entry-level positions
The first job in the list right now is a manager position requiring 10+ years of experience!

Perhaps some filtration based on some simple regex could help get rid of at least the most basic errors? :)

hsson··on Which companies are using Erlang, and why?
I'm fairly certain he/she refers to Ericsson, the creator of Erlang.
hsson··on Show HN: IAvisa – Explore visa requirements worldwide
Cool site. However, I found that it seems to search/replace "us" with "United States" in certain places where it's not expected, e.g.:

"A bUnited Statesiness visa requires an invitation from a company..."

hsson··on Best Startups to Work for in Stockholm
As a fellow Swede, I was surprised to find so many companies on this list that I've never heard of before. Great read!
hsson··on Ask HN: What are some alternatives to Google maps?
Might be worth mentioning that Waze is a subsidiary of Google since 2013.
hsson··on Swedes turn against cashlessness
This is my experience in Sweden as well. The only people I've heard complaining about the move away from cash are older generations (65+) — everyone else loves it. The e-krona initiative could solve the problem of allowing a cashless system while still giving control to the Riksbank [1].

hsson··on Fish: A user-friendly command line shell for macOS, Linux, etc
I definitely prefer zsh. I just feel like Fish tries too hard and it's just awkward to switch between fish and bash when frequently switching between different machines.
hsson··on Show HN: Airmash – Multiplayer Missile Warfare HTML5 Game
Very good on mobile, got in first place a couple of times. Should stop disclaiming about the mobile experience
