a 1 gbps wireless will be slower than old pots service on heavy rainy day
do it like 4 - 10 hrs each day ... come back a month later, if you find yourself still doing it then go for programming
sql is very limiting ... to me, that's enough to justify not investing more time in sql
there should be plenty
but of course, only 3 data points, past data don't ensure future and it's only correlation, not causation
a less parallel could be erlang, jquery, python-fu where one needs to learn 3 distincts techs -> takes more time
for oop, it could be ruby, prototype, <insert ruby for photo>, and of course sql
i didn't put sql because i don't use it now since my data structure (linked list) is not easily mapped into tables shrug and i use a lot of regex on top of it ... but it would be sqlite if i have to use sql again
abundant open source options ... choose the smallest set
touch typing: 10 fingers + numbers
a decent editor: vim
html+css
jquery (i guess it's the lispiest framework)
server-side: lisp / scheme
unix command: piping, awk, grep, find, xargs (a 'mapping' equivalent)
gimp: script-fu (tiny-scheme) and imagemagick of course
os: openbsd (i find it easier -- altho more stern -- than linux)
can yc/angel/vc backed startup be plentyoffish killer? i doubt money will help shrug
asus makes luxury into commodity
the price of netbooks should drop (esp over last 2 yrs) but didn't, suggesting there's a lot of demands
btw, duck can't fly so u may want to cut that feature
if you can't convince, confuse them
by definition, uni will always lag and revert to mean -> the graduates will be slow and average (or not unique)
most of the stuffs i used every day wasn't taught in uni.
i'll use python/linux paradox for filtering new hires; huge bonus for lisp/bsd
nothing prevents a passionate person to google, buy the book if necesary, and email the experts in fields
i remember that in almost all of my math courses (esp the graduate courses) i wasn't required to buy books (the prof wrote pdf notes and post in on his site)
i find that no-bullshit courses tend to less corrupt
those who blog every day naturally tend to have more followers
it used to be individual bloggers; however the trend is increasingly toward groups of bloggers
maybe the ultimate is site like reddit / hn (you can think the OP as a mini blog with a link)
too much sex in holland (fat in usa)
i agree, gwb got his mba from hbs, that should say something about the degree ... errr ... the person
