There is no treatment for death.

I don't see the problem with cable syncing, which works fine for me with lots of music and three devices I sync to, but you do you.

They were falling over themselves to make *a* movie with him. Not so much *another* movie with him. I just happened to watch a video about that this morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqoQoN-Pb5I

So, you've seen Days of Heaven, too?

(actually, I only lasted through the first 20 minutes)

I worked at Disney Animation during the 90s. Yeah, my career may have peaked 30 years ago but not everyone gets a peak like that. "A gift" is the best way to describe it.

> As a maintainer, it is my duty to come across as unbiased and factual as possible...

Sez who?

Probably so the appliance can let a server know to have your phone notify you that your appliance is done doing what it was doing.

I don't want to wait that long. If I get diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I am taking a quick farewell tour of family and friends and then I'm done. I don't want to wait so long that I need someone else to off me. I wish that all wasn't necessary but this country (US) isn't going to get smarter anytime soon.

I bought one from 1965 last year. Got it cheap on eBay. Seller said it didn't work. Seller just didn't know how to turn the knob on the side. I have to buy bread that isn't as wide as I was getting but it's totally worth it. Perfect toast every time.

I have this cousin, Vinny, who's a lawyer, and he was able to use his girlfriend as an expert witness. Both sides agreed she really knows her stuff because that's what really matters.

Charge for support emails. $1 (or whatever) to fill out a form and have a support email delivered to you. All other support emails (presumably to old addresses) will be ignored.

Household electric doesn't necessarily take years but it takes longer than 60 days of YouTube videos.

So you haven't done bug fixes on something poorly architected initially because the project was started by anyone with a pulse instead of someone experienced?

Same with electrical. Yeah, you can learn the basics but only experience is going to get you to do it right. And two months ain't enough experience to do all the new construction electrical for someone else's house. Doing it for yourself is fine because only you have to deal with what you didn't do completely right when you didn't know any better.

Not when I worked in the US govt. We were told that everything we did in our Slack was FOIA-able. FWIW.

> ...the biggest thing these programs did successfully was just diversifying the entry points so that you could even begin to start conversations with people from other backgrounds.

This. This was my experience with DEIA programs in the government. It was always about diverse recruitment, not hiring. People believe what they want to, though.

By your logic, having one small group would be most efficient. Which makes perfect sense, given the tiny size of the US government, in Trumpistan logic.

The so-called Department of Government Efficiency has deleted a group that was devoted solely to making the government more efficient. Makes perfect sense, in Trumpistan logic.

I worked in a group that was 100% in-person, with the team distributed all over the country. I wonder how this is going to play out for them.

Understandable. I would suggest that when the kids are old enough, consider doing smaller tours (a weekend, a week, etc.) when you can and not waiting until retirement to do any touring. The latter was my plan. Until I got colon cancer. I still ride but I can't do more than a couple of days in a row before I get digestive problems that put a halt to touring. With hindsight, I wish I would have done some one- to two-week tours while I was still able to.

It's all billionaire fun and games until they try to close post offices. Have fun with that, boys.

Hey, when only a hippopotamus will do, what else is there?

If by "is fairly recent" you mean "has been around for over six years", yes.

It's called a "soft opening".

And they were already feeling sluggish by the second half of the 90s. That might be because I had an SGI on my desktop, though.

Societal crisis? Say what?

You mean except this part:

> “The Biden-Harris Administration was actively destroying the records of federal employees at the CDC in blatant violation of the law — and we are pleased that the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has ordered a stop to their illegal conduct,” America First Legal’s executive director Gene Hamilton said in a statement. “The Biden-Harris Administration’s politicization of records management must end.”

Even though the decision shows that CDC has likely been doing this since at least 2016.

Yes, Tom Boonen was ill-suited for going up an 18% grade.

These are races they're discussing. Not recreational cyclists. Racers are only coasting downhill if they're going so fast they can't pedal faster than their speed. Any energy capture downhill would slow a rider down in a race.

M*A*S*H. Not for his performance, necessarily. It's just a great, fun movie. I'm watching it tonight.

Scale, I imagine. Orchards are big. How many robot waterers would you need when you have to spend time at each individual tree (or groups of trees) to water it/them? How far is it to the nearest refill?

Put another way, drip is massively parallel. Robot waterers, not so much.
