Yeah, this is a the answer. Our brain only remembers novelty, our firsts years and even decades are plagued by it. But after you are already 5 or 10 years onto your "adult" life you basically do exactly the same each day. 80% of what we do in our daily life as adults is not memorable at all and get completely ignored by our long-term perception. In short, it feels like the time flies because you did only 2 or 3 memorable things in the whole year.

If you give me back 3 month of vacations in summer as when I was a kid, they will also feel long.

While I agree that AI wont replace you, the analogy is BS. Magnus Carlsen is not replaced by a chess engine because he is not paid solely because of his raw skills. As any professional player of any massive sport, he is an entertainer first. He gets paid only because people want to watch him play.

Everything is designed with an average and it works, because by definition most people is in fact around the average. It's not a perfect fit for anybody, but it's a decent fit for almost everyone.

If you don't design stuff with an average user in mind, is literally impossible to build anything. You would never run out of edge cases to cover.

EG: You design a chair. You design it up to hold up to 250lb, then you start going thinking it further and say "ok there are 10 people who weight 550lb, so yeah lets build all the chairs that way even if they now cost 1200$ each". No, what you do is design a regular chair that fits 80% the people and then if you want you can design one who fit 90%, another with 95%, 99% or how much ever you want. You always need to decide what the cut-off point is, and it's usually mandated by costs.

They surely can, you get burn out because you get constantly frustrated for long periods of time in your daily tasks. It can be caused by overwork, underwork, underperform, overperform, etc.

I don't understand the problem. School is designed for the average (as it should be), spending your whole summer vacation doing math is far from an average thing a kid would do. If you enjoy doing something beyond what school offers, you do it in your free time and be done with it, as with any other hobby.

The main problem is inflation, and the second problem is that most houses are owned by people (boomers and silent gen people) who already have a lot of wealth (not millionares or anything but they got the opportunity to buy cheap and save for longer time) so there is no real incentive to make housing prices go down and make the net worth of that demographic plummet (you must also remember that almost all politicians belong to that same demographic). So basically us young and poor people are financing the wealth and comfort of the older generation through inflation.

No, almost all users don't even know what they want. So sadly if you want to appeal to a large audience you need to put guardrails everywhere so user don't fck up and then sue you or make you a hell PR campaign. You can only have the luxury of giving user freedom when you appeal to a niche market, your userbase is savvy and they have ownership on what day do on your app (if they fck up they won't blame your for it)

Most teachers are incredibly incompetent at their job. I am all up in rising the wages of teachers if they can keep up with their task. Wages and seniority should be based on data on teacher performance not in years.

I don't know why you assume in the first place that intelligence correlates at all with happiness or unhappiness. There's no adequate proof for any of those asumptions.

I think the main issue is that papers and studies with negative results are almost never published. There should be some procedure in place that ensures that papers will always be published no matter what is the result. This decision shouldn't be in the hands of the researchers and even less so on the investors.

Direct investor oversight over the research is very concerning. With the current method we can only blindly trust that scientist will be willing to sacrifice their career to publish a research that could potentially bury their investor. This makes absolutely no sense and will almost always end in conflict of interest.

I don't know the answer, but the current status quo is deeply flawed and needs to change quickly.

Everything on the internet is made to be as addictable as possible. Anyways i don't "love" social media, but I just want to have free time to spare, but between my job and my wife only Friday nights are the only time i can really enjoy and i mostly don't enjoy it as much because I'm exhausted from the week and I just want to sleep. I use social media in between my daily life as a guilty pleasure to feel free to waste some time in some mindless shit without having to plan anything.

Almost no-one has english as first language in EU. Also most younger people speak at least 2 languages. Only older folks and people that lives in rural areas speak only one language.

i can relate
