holoduke··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
Even my MacBook Intel from 2015 is still receiving updates. It's slow, but everything works.
holoduke··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
What cant you do what you can do with Linux? Nowadays my main apps are terminal apps mostly running Claude. Honestly don't really care whether it's macOS or Linux or maybe even windows. I do care about local speed. Occasionally try out local models.
holoduke··on Xiaomi: New CPU matches Apple cores single threaded, much faster multithreaded
Gdp grew much faster in the US than in the EU. I believe the EU is the worst performer of the planet. No joke. And not surprising with the self destructive actions.
holoduke··on Xiaomi: New CPU matches Apple cores single threaded, much faster multithreaded
Too many propoganda leads to expressions like yours. Sorry your story has zero foundation and is fox news quality.
holoduke··on Watching TikTok and Instagram deactivates the cognitive control network: Study
Today I found out that half my traffic on my apps are coming from bots. I am considering leaving the online world. Its becoming a hostile unpleasant place. This article report only fuels my devotion.
holoduke··on Anthropic's 'watermark' text adulteration in Claude is a perversion of writing
Whole watermark thing is just bullshit. What if I add a watermark text and another AI as well. How many watermarks and who is the real creator. It just doesn't make sense. I ll eat my shoes if this concept is still a thing in 6 months
holoduke··on DeepSeek planning to significantly raise prices
I have the 20x. I really never reach the limit anymore. I am a heavy user. How is that possible?
holoduke··on When AI Benchmarks Plateau: A Systematic Study of Benchmark Saturation
Even without getting better trained models and only speed increase, the output would be dramatically better. An LLM or non llms that is a billion times faster than now would be so insanely strong in many areas.
holoduke··on You don't need React: creating a minimal UI library in Vanilla JavaScript
95% of the frontend apps can easily be made with AI. Doesn't matter in which framework.
holoduke··on Dubious research tied to Red Bull has shaped energy drink policy
I believe soda drinks are a big contributor to various cancers. Stop drinking it. It only gives advantages. There is zero absolutely zero positive thing about these extreme sugar drinks.
holoduke··on We Gave GPT 5.6 Sol a Real Business. It Lied, Spammed, and Lost $447
But I see all kinds of youtube videos where people are becoming millionaires with agents active on stock markets. This cannot be true right? /S
holoduke··on Kimi K3-256k
It happened with ASML. What's your thought on it? The US forbid dutch company to export.
holoduke··on Kimi K3-256k
A bit of topic. But how likely is it that the US will restrict Chinese open weight models and also force Euro countries to do the same? I think it will be effective within 6 months. The US is having a hard time staying competitive.
holoduke··on Kimi-K3 on HuggingFace
It will be not 5 tok/sec. More like 0.5 tok per sec with a fast cpu setup.
holoduke··on Kimi-K3 on HuggingFace
I am going to create a uncensored version of this one. Looking forward to design my own meth lab at home. Just kidding. But also not kidding. I like uncensored versions
holoduke··on French firefighters face 'pyrocumulonimbus' for first time
We have these fires in france since I was born in early 80s. As far as I remember we had them almost every year. Nothing new about it. Doesn't say that global warming doesn't exist. But to shut of any discussion because of global warming is just wrong
holoduke··on London Gatwick has launched a robotic airport parking service
There are bicycle lanes everywhere in Holland. I don't know a single person that bikes to the airport. From Amsterdam its at least 30 minutes by bike from the city center. Actually have no idea where I would park the bike. It's not common and not practical at this point.
holoduke··on An ESP32 based plane radar for my desk
These kind of project are now so easy. A few prompts and you have something like this. I did it with quite a few similar like projects. You can buy super cheap esps with integrated lcds for less than 20 dollars.
holoduke··on Open-weight AI is having its Kubernetes moment
No I haven't. And I am sure there are flaws in the guide for a nuclear bomb. But a meth lab at home is definitely doable. Would not recommend it
holoduke··on Open-weight AI is having its Kubernetes moment
All censorship whether it's tienanmen, sex nudity, violence etc are happening in a very thin layer of the model. It's easily bypassed. I use all open models without any censorship. I can easily ask how to make a nuclear bomb or how to build my own meth lab at home with a super details step by step list.
holoduke··on IRGC claims it destroyed Amazon's Bahrain data center
Yes true, but also anyone in Iran no matter what part your from wants the US gone in the region. The US is seen as responsible for allowing slavery in many golf states. It's also responsible for unfair businesses. And seen as a mafia state that steals resources.
holoduke··on India's first privately-developed rocket reaches orbit on debut launch
Why do you need radiation hardening? We don't need hyper deterministic systems in those setups.
holoduke··on Claude Opus 5
Is it me that the model performance between 4.7 and others is really small. For me even 4.7 works fine. Sure fable might be a bit better. But is it really noticable? It's in the same league if you ask me.
holoduke··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
It's the rule based order america is the boss in. Essentially a mafia ruled country where rules are different for opponents.
holoduke··on So Reddit has decided that plain HTML is unsafe
There UI tactics are top evil. Does anyone else has the issue of back button action not remembering scroll position of the previous page? I think they did it deliberately for some unknown reason.
holoduke··on Nobody knows what a used GPU cluster is worth
Hell no. 1.5kw is half a socket capacity. A heat pump or many kitchen appliances are using much more. Our car charger uses more as well.
holoduke··on AI makes programming differently difficult
Since rise of AI u haven't touched single line of code. Even though I know AI isn't good enough still in many areas, I cannot find the energy to invest in programming with writing code.
holoduke··on Arduino Launches Plug-and-Play Modules for Long-Range Sensor Projects
Well esp is wifi baked in the chip. If you want determenstic clock cycles then go for stm32. If you want easy quick setups. Like an interface for a fatbikes, washmachine, dashboard for a car, then go for esp
holoduke··on The World's 2,400 Castles
There are many castles near my parents house in france. I don't see any of them? AI generated?
holoduke··on Jelly UI: Soft-body physics for native HTML form controls
If you take about optimizing then games are the prime example of doing that. You don't load textures every frame into gpu memory. Tou don't load vertices into memory every frame. Sure they repaint every pixel every frame. But low level your display driver is doing that anyway. The cpu cycles are not in sending the RGB value to each pixel. We are far beyond that bandwidth issue. Recalculating every single position in a css styled document is pretty heavy. There are millions of calculations done to solve flex boxes, floats, percentual widths etc. this example is doing something like that. Super heavy. Super inefficient. Super bad.
