So, depending on the place you don't weigh your vegetables in the aisles anymore, you know: low trust society and such. Either the cashier does it or yourself under the eye of the automated register CCTV. For places that still does they can just migrate to do it at the register and save the price of the barcode stickers and the printer. Pastries are either in boxes already barcoded so just stick an RFID instead or counted at the register by the cashier or yourself too. And nowadays RFID stickers cost nothing at that scale.
What a bad piece. Optical is obsolete. Decathlon (here in France at least) has RFID on all their products, they're used as anti-theft, automatic tilling: you just put them in a box at the register and it knows what it is (also kills the chips once paid) and very likely they're used all along the logistic chain.
They even added games lmao, all of them looks quickly sloped stuff. The only think keeping YouTube afloat is their inertia, everyone is here so everyone goes here. The day creators realize video is infintely copiable data and they can actually publish in multiple places simultaneously better platforms will emerge for sure.
Spec says Y, Chrome does X, all its forks do X, web devs expect X, Firefox, Safari etc. must implement X, spec is rewritten to say X. It's as simple as that.
lol, obviously it was bound to happen since the companies themselves try as hard as they can to hide any kind of external contact. Phone, email and I'm sure some will even try snail mail.
I wonder if the GitHub actions outages we keep seeing is due to themselves making self-hosted runners paid, hence bringing broke/cheap users back from hosted runners to their garbage infra.Meanwhile I'm running my Codeberg Actions on the free Oracle ARM machine 2 cores 12GB ram (previously 4 cores 24GB) and way more reliable. Keep winning bozos.
Edit: After second thought, I guess "alternative runner" providers still have to pay the self-hosted tax. So M$ actually saves and makes money by not scaling their infra and driving people to alternative providers they can tax freely. Actual geniuses.
This is incredible. Unfortunately I can't help but picture some executives/politics salivating at the mouth just by the idea of being able to plug into your very brain in a handful of years.
> those sync everywhere, this isn't a real risk
I hope your main account at one of these two providers gets banned for whatever reason so you'll never utter such frivolous claims ever after :)
It's not a "hard problem" it's impossible, it would be a typical trying to solve a social issue with technical solution. Bad actors encrypt their comms anyway so only the unaware layman gets caught in the net.
Only the ones who still haven't noticed it is impossible, they WILL come for your ass.
State laws will forbid you to farm there. Food industry will forbid you to replant these seeds. Heavy equipment industry will forbid you to fix your engine.
The only way out of the meat grinder is through death.
RCS's point is to deliver ads. It is its first purpose.
The way I see the situation, the point for Graphene to implement RCS is to prepare for the foreseeable deprecation of SMS. Who knows when it will happen, but better start working now than wait and get stranded when it'll happen. I'm pretty sure RCS implementation will take a long while.
It was but after enough backlash they made it opt-in. Though it would be foolish to think they didn't just kept collecting and simply let you access from the timestamp you turned the thing on.
"we're developing software to trade thousandth of cents every nanosecond, so time sensitive we're paying to get our servers physically closer to the exchange one" but supporting unicode in display strings ? Absolutely and terminally impossible. lmao
Very nice, I'll say Continuity can absolutely be implemented fully on Linux though ! I think the thing we'd need very first is an actual communication "backbone" that would span bluetooth,wifi-direct and even mesh networks like Tailscale or smth. Continuity is partly based on AWDL, Apple proprietary implementation of Wifi-Direct to allow high speed local inter device communication and allow things like Sidecar with an iPad. Then we could implement protocols over that backbone to implement actual useful applications.
The user is held hostage as much as the platforms because it's used as "currency" to force other sites to do things they may not want to, i.e. create accounts using private emails, and the platforms are held hostage by these same users expecting to be able to create accounts using their legit or private icloud emails. It looks like some kind of "who will break first", is there a service big enough to be able to block all icloud emails and it'd be a sufficient inconvenience to force apple to rethink how private email works ?
