Does this basically do what Instinct does? (viral text-only agent w/$10B valuation in short notice)

Also why do we need another name for agents? It's getting to be too much...

why not mantle? - I was confused why mantle exists over normal bedrock
holler··on Does anybody like React?
I feel the same way about ember.js :]
holler··on ChatGPT won't let you type until Cloudflare reads your React state
ahh yes, fresh off reading "Html For Dummies" I made my first tripod.com site

MySpace was the last fun social network, bummer you missed it!
holler··on Miami, your Waymo ride is ready
My first and only Waymo ride was super sketch. Car slowed down to ~5mph in a 35mph zone and stayed that way for 5+ minutes as other cars were swerving around us. Felt like it was going to come to a complete stop in the middle of the road, I prefer real humans.
holler··on Launch HN: Pulse (YC S24) – Production-grade unstructured document extraction
Having worked in the space I have real doubts about that. Right now Claude and other top models already do a decent job at e.g. "generate OCR from this document". But as mentioned there are serious failure modes, it's non-deterministic, and especially cost-prohibitive at scale.

this. I don't know any non-tech people who use anything other than chatgpt. On a similar note, I've wondered why Amazon doesn't make a chatgpt-like app with their latest Alexa+ makeover, seems like a missed opportunity. The Alexa app has a feature to talk to the LLM in chat mode, but the overall app is geared towards managing devices.
holler··on Waymo robotaxis are now giving rides on freeways in LA, SF and Phoenix
Pretty sure but yeah it's possible, either way the traffic was moving fast and we slowed down to the point where it felt unsafe.
holler··on Waymo robotaxis are now giving rides on freeways in LA, SF and Phoenix
I had my first waymo ride in Austin recently and it suddenly slowed down to 20mph in 40mph zone for 5+ mins before returning to normal speed. Cars were passing around us and it felt like the car was glitching out, which felt very sketchy.
holler··on Andrej Karpathy – It will take a decade to work through the issues with agents
my thought exactly
holler··on Show HN: I built a simple ambient sound app with no ads or subscriptions
very nice! curious if you could comment on the tech stack, did you use swift or react native or something else?
holler··on ChatGPT Pulse
Yeah I was thinking, what problem does this solve?
holler··on Are we decentralized yet?
spot on, same reason irc never spread to the masses
holler··on Show HN: OverType – A Markdown WYSIWYG editor that's just a textarea
Looks nice! I like how simple/clean it is. I spent 3+ months building a contenteditable component from scratch for https://sqwok.im, learned a lot and was fun but oh my did it get challenging, especially with cross-browser issues.
holler··on Litestar is worth a look
Same, I've built all my recent api's in Starlette alone and I find it excellent. It's clean, concise, well documented, and you can extend it as needed, supporting small -> very large projects.
holler··on The current hype around autonomous agents, and what actually works in production
that was a great read, thanks! - agentic noob
holler··on Svelte 5 is not JavaScript
Agree, overall ember has felt stable and only improved with age, unfortunately becoming increasingly niche.

At my company I mentioned using it in passing to our cto as we were discussing a project to move our core web app from angular to react, and he laughed saying "maybe if this was 10 years ago!".

holler··on Modern JavaScript for Django Developers
DRF has been around a long time at this point, and that's been a common stack (albeit with other frontend frameworks 10 years ago).

In recent times I'm a fan of Starlette, which is what the popular FastAPI lib is built on top of, and created by same author as DRF.

Not true, you can find unsalted organic peanut butter w/o any other ingredients at WholeFoods and elsewhere.
holler··on FTC sues Adobe for hiding fees and inhibiting cancellations
About six months ago I was auditing my bank statements and realized I've been paying Adobe ~$40 for the past 5-6 years or so, almost $3,000 for software I very seldom used if at all in recent times. Closed my account, downloaded gimp, and won't be using Adobe in the future.

holler··on Starship will attempt a launch this Friday
Yeah I walked in, honestly a split second decision not to go to Starbucks across the bridge in Port Isabell saved me. I veered to make a u-turn after deciding it would be too close and saw a parking spot right there. Walked from the bridge to southern tip and had minutes to spare until it launched.
holler··on Starship will attempt a launch this Friday
Very loud, bring ear protection! The crackling of the engines will make your entire body shake. Other than that just comfy clothes you can walk on the sand in. It's a real unique experience, you're in for a treat!
holler··on Starship will attempt a launch this Friday
I watched the first launch from the southern tip of Isla Blanca Park on South Padre Island and recommend that (I stood on the jetty). I also had recently watched 2 falcon launches in Florida and Starship is incredibly more powerful and awe-inspiring to witness.

Plan to get to the park entrance at least 30 mins early because it takes time to walk through to the southern end, and there will likely be a large crowd.

Stayed at Isla Grand Hotel and there were a bunch of other people hanging out the night before, have fun!

That's an awesome/inspiring story, congrats & thanks for sharing. Was it all organic growth in the beginning? What took it from that early phase to the next step?
