hknceykbx··on I am done with this shit
Assume you have control over things. How do you make it not soul crushing? Even if you don’t have an incentive to produce as fast as you can, it’s still kinda sucks. Even if you take the time to carefully review the code produced etc.
hknceykbx··on Casio F-B100W-1A
Well, your argument might be valid but calculation of course has nothing remotely to do with truth. If we’re talking about the US, person has to be in the US/travel to US. That dramatically cuts down the amount from 25M. Second - the person has to be.. how do I put it, non white? Probably muslim. That also cuts it down by far. I can believe that people who fall in these two categories might have some subcultural groups. And in most of them they might just.. not wear Casio watches. It’s not like probability of wearing/not wearing Casio watches is equally likely for every person on earth. They have their target groups.
hknceykbx··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026)
Refreshing my math. With ai being just dev seems to get more boring w time hence will probably have to pivot to data science ml. The goal is to be able to read papers on ml / data science hence probability and statistics, after that / in parallel tensors and all that stuff. I used to somewhat know that so it shouldn’t be too hard
hknceykbx··on Hey, n00b, we didn't hire you to complete tasks
I’m a “junior” senior and I’ve got a junior whose faith I’ll need to decide in a few months. How do you know if they are gonna be good? And how do you give them all of the possible tools to actually be good? Not like I don’t have a clue, but I’ll appreciate some advice.

I think the biggest problem is that they almost dont ask questions. It’s like one question in two days. In past I had to deal with juniors who would flood me with questions, and with them it was pretty clear how they are doing (yes we talked about it).

hknceykbx··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
No shit
hknceykbx··on Why the most valuable things you know are things you cannot say
All good but. You don’t learn calculus but simply listening to an explanation. There’s quite a lot of practice and internalization in it. Same goes basically for any other higher education topic.
hknceykbx··on I Am Not A Number. In memory of the more than 72,000 Palestinians killed
This website was updated from personal page to this in a single commit. Suspicious
hknceykbx··on So where are all the AI apps?
How do packages measure anything? This is a biased sample. Average user of AI/developer would not ever in their life make a package or any open source contribution. They would probably work on the proprietary software. Not to say that conclusions are wrong though.
hknceykbx··on Silicon Valley's "Pronatalists" Killed WFH. The Strait of Hormuz Brought It Back
Not working from home is easier than from office. But in general why keep employees you can’t trust? At least on the scope of startups it shouldn’t be a problem. When you know each person face to face, everyone in the team knows if someone is slacking. Doesn’t matter if it’s wfh or from office.
hknceykbx··on Workers report watching Ray-Ban Meta-shot footage of people using the bathroom
You have to record no? Why would you record while in bathroom? Or do they record always?
hknceykbx··on The death of social media is the renaissance of RSS (2025)
Why does this article feels like it’s written with ai
hknceykbx··on Put the zip code first
How about autofilling zip code
hknceykbx··on Osaka: Kansai Airport proud to have never lost single piece of luggage (2024)
Yes it all comes to the culture. But we need to take into account that Japanese culture for the workers themselves is absolutely horrible. Is all that suffering worth not losing a bunch of luggage or getting a train exactly the minute you expect? Not for me at least. I think it’s better to cope with imperfections like that than to work in a toxic environment where you can’t leave the office until your boss leaves. That same culture is the reason why we don’t hear about successful startups from Japan. God forbid there is a single bug in it. But what’s better - to have a software with a bug and not the cleanest code or not to have it at all? Hardware is another story of course. But my point is that there is both good and bad in any culture. Depends on how you look at it
hknceykbx··on Hacker News.love – 22 projects Hacker News didn't love
I see. But it looks horrible, no? I mean I get that it’s a purely taste issue.
hknceykbx··on Hacker News.love – 22 projects Hacker News didn't love
Here’s a question. Does anyone seriously uses tailwind in real projects? It is indeed just inline styling why would you do that? And about claw, do you think it’s more than just hype?
hknceykbx··on Semantic ablation: Why AI writing is generic and boring
Yea. It is pretty sad. Even if we think about the code we’re writing. It’s so… average. No clever solutions, no funny mistakes, no character. Just average.
