I traded a 6mo notice for removal of non compete, figured it was a good trade for both parties. This is a CxO position. I know they are mostly unenforceable but the next company might not want to even get involved if it were in my current contract.
So the places we drive to are pretty remote and not in 'safe' spots. So I could sit at the hotel/resort and have no issues or get out on the road to the dive site. Every trip has had a story, not all good ones, but every dive has been worth it.
Personally I do it because it's the closest I will ever get to feeling like a space explorer. You are neutrally buoyant (weightless) completely relying on your equipment for survival and able to see places IN the earth very few people will ever experience, plus I love a challenge. When most people think of cave diving they imagine really small holes and limited visibility. Sure, that can be it if you want or you can visit places like this,
^ THAT is why I do it. Also I spent about 2 years in initial training and continue to train every time I dive. Our goal is to drive the risk to 0 which isn't reality but I feel less safe driving to some of the caves than I do diving them.
Tourist Cave diver here, kicking up a little dirt happens on almost every dive, we train to deal with complete blackout scenarios, while sharing air, in restrictions but that rarely happens. Typical incidents relate to people doing a dive over their experience level or getting lost and running out of gas. Some cave systems are truly huge in scale and navigation can be difficult if you do a huge dive in one go. Personally i will only make 1 new navigation decision per dive so i can always visualize the cave. This goes out the window for those doing exploration type dives, then anything can happen.
Not sure if it's the case here but typically a low o2 underwater environment means a high concentration of Hydrogen Sulfide. This can have corrosive effects on some scuba gear and generally makes visibility very poor. I've crossed through a H2S layer in a Mexican Cenote (fresh water on top, H2S in middle, Salt on bottom) it was only a few feet thick, it's not something I'd want to spend a lot of time in though. Even though you are on SCUBA you can still smell and taste it and it's not pleasant.
Labor cost to maintain is far more than the service cost for a small startup, most of the time you can get by on the free tiers for quite some time. Founders need to focus time/energy on what adds value, not updating services.
There are First Aid courses offered everywhere that cover CPR, AED and even how to provide oxygen. I take them every 2 years to stay fresh and get some sudo practice. Nothings stopping you from doing this on your own!
I buy all my developers new MacBook Pro's every 18 months. Partly b/c I am (was) a developer and also I understand time/value/money and there is ZERO point in wasting time because of a few $1,000 laptop over a couple years.
This guy is the type of teacher we need more of. Great sense of humor, connecting with students and presenting material in a fun/easy to understand way. Bravo!
It was great until the operator had to jump on and tell you his mom needed to use the phone add if have to log out. The best part was you knew most of the people running them, we'd met at tech oriented stores like babbage's or radio shack, usually trying to buy some software and them giving us access to their bbs with everything you can imagine on it.
This right here is why we will not be moving our Self-Hosted BB to their 'cloud'. I can't afford these kinds of outages and being 'small' we can yell and scream all we want and they won't care. I'd much rather have the control in my hands when something goes wrong. Goodbye BB!
I bought the 8gb mini, haven't tried any dev work on it but have been editing videos using premiere. Mostly 1080p60, it's been awesome, some filters take a bit longer to preview than they do on my intel MacBook with amd gpu (my dev machine, node, python), but nothing to cause issues. I'm pleasantly surprised how well it works so far. Win 10 arm via parallels is a bit slower than I'd like but i don't need to do much in it to bother.
Installing these and burning games is what paid for my beer in college for a couple of years. Good times. I did brick 1, bought a used ps1, modded it and threw in a few free games to the owner.
/rant I really hate YouTube now. Everyone wants to put every bit of information in a 10+ min long video b/c 10 min videos get better ad rates. So they spend the first 4 min w/ a long ass 'intro' sequence on all videos, then pleading you subscribe and 'hit the bell' then plugging patreon, then some long backstory, then the gem of info you came for that could have been a tweet. Oh and all this is broken up by ads at the beginning and middle of the videos, it's a cesspool I refuse to pay for. /rant
Get on the phone with them. I setup regular calls and had them explain each and every charge and where it came from. They would even waive billing on a feature i wanted to try out so i could determine baseline cost. I 100% agree the pricing is impossible to understand but they will work with you to find what works from both an ops and budget.
The first one I saw was a Rip of a SpaceX livestream. I watched it for a bit then noticed all the BitCoin references and got confused then realized it was a scam account. How they get promoted basically to the front page is the issue.
They are, in my area they have switched to P25 Trunked and added encryption, at least on the PD channels. The US is a big country and it takes a coordinated effort to upgrade the big city and the surrounding areas and is very expensive. The only thing open around me is Fire/Rescue.
