hisyam··on Fuck It, I'm Going Back to Firefox
If you have too many extensions that consumes memory you can easily switch them on/off using the Extensions Manager plugin: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/extensions-manager...
hisyam··on Why I Quit OS X – Geoff Wozniak
I'm currently using a Macbook with 4GB of RAM with normal HDD and using Mavericks is kinda painful. MKBHD's demo on a Mac Mini with SSD looks blazing fast [1] so I thought I should buy a new Mac with 8GB RAM & SSD but your experience tells otherwise. Now I'm not so sure...

How much RAM?
hisyam··on Why I Quit OS X – Geoff Wozniak
> My last 3 laptops had been Mac's (a White Macbook, then a Macbook Pro from 2010, then a Retina Macbook Pro from these days...) and while I feel 'satisfied' I also kind of noticed that performance is always worse, and somehow the morethe more I upgrade, the more I feel like a pain the ass when I use that computer.

Are you using SSD or normal HDD?

hisyam··on Why I Quit OS X – Geoff Wozniak
I have a Macbook Pro with 4GB RAM & normal HDD and I don't recommend upgrading past Mountain Lion, since Mavericks uses at least 3GB after booting up. I'm guessing Apple engineers are provided with Mac Pro with blazing speeds so they don't understand the pain of using the latest OSX with 4GB RAM & normal HDD.

As for Spotify, it consumes a lot of memory. You'd better off with iTunes.

Why do some people hate Launchpad? I use it all the time and I like it.

If you don't like it just remove the Launchpad icon from the dock and don't hit the F4 key.

hisyam··on My Amazon S3 Mistake
> Unfortunately the Rails tutorial is pretty bland so about half way through I decided to snoop around to see what my options where. Somehow, almost by chance I ended up a subscriber on Lynda. Lynda only has one Rails tutorial, but its pretty in depth and is backed by a five hour Ruby tutorial.

I had the situation in reverse. I found the Lynda.com rails tutorials first (in 2011) and I found it lacking compared to Rails Tutorial. I'm not sure what's the situation now, from Lynda.com website it seems the author (Kevin Skoglund) has updated the tutorials for Rails 4.

hisyam··on With New Ad Platform, Facebook Opens Gates to Its Vault of User Data
That's because generally people doesn't find any value in liking a pharmacy facebook page. If you're doing a clearance sale & run an ad to promote it, the result might turn out differently.

There was a reddit thread that reviews a bunch of password managers out there: http://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/1psfmt/1password_vs_l...

I'm using Pinterest to collect pictures of watches, cars, retail shops, and many other things. Way better than using Google Images and saving the pics one by one.
hisyam··on Ask HN: I can't do this anymore, I need help
What about us who live in developing nations and get paid less than USD1000 per month working as a dev? Saving money is hard over here.
hisyam··on Apple CarPlay
I agree that certain dashboard functionality are better handled by knobs, switches, and sliders. However if you look into the webpage above, CarPlay only supports Phone, Music, Maps, and Messages, the kind of features that are better handled by touchscreen. As for Messages, it can read the text messages for you.

Can you recommend which ad tracking tool to use for Facebook Ads?
hisyam··on Ask HN: Nepal's ccTLD registrar won't let devs update nameservers. What to do?
Yesterday I bought a .my domain from Exabytes and I found that the nameservers can only be updated through their support staff rather than using their control panel.

Not as bad as your problem but a mild annoyance nonetheless.

hisyam··on Facebook's New Feed
Facebook IS the biggest photo sharing site.
hisyam··on Textmate and Sublime Text online theme editor
Hopefully I'll get the chance to try it when it goes back up. Editing the theme manually kinda sucks.

Currently, in Sublime Text 2, when I edit a theme and saves, it starts to add a lot of weird redundant codes inside the theme file. I'm not sure whether it's a bug or I shouldn't edit the theme file live.

hisyam··on Interactive Guide to Blog Typography
I prefer not to code with a light background because it hurts my eyes. Strangely enough, my eyes don't complain when typing with a white background in a word editor.

Maybe it's because text editors come with lots of color?

hisyam··on Interactive Guide to Blog Typography
The subheadings should be closer to the paragraph underneath it. Otherwise it looks freely floating between two paragraphs.
