If typescript was simply type safety that would be one thing. It's definitely a lot, lot more than that.
Typescript is to .NET as Coffeescript was to Ruby. A bunch of developers who didn't know JavaScript and wanted to find the closest thing they could to what they already knew. And who really uses Coffeescript anymore? Stick with esnext to babel and the bright future JavaScript has ahead.
That culture is causing a serious brain drain and more importantly a hard ceiling on how far a brand can reach into the unknown. Its the difference between capturing the imaginations of consumers all over the world as opposed to simply trying to scale into some generic chain store or big box retail product.
There a lots and lots of markets where the seller almost always loses. Look at art and music.
Patenting the food supply is one of the scariest things for the developing world. Certainly vitamin A deficiency is a real problem but we are then trading that problem for giving one company absolute power over a group of people with very few resources to defend themselves.
Is there unanimous agreement that high rents(which are occurring throughout the US and abroad right now) are solely due to lack of development?
Music and movies and other forms of entertainment have been fantastic ways to launder money for a long long time. Maybe someone should to create a way for independent artists to "sell" for those who need a way to legally attribute their profit to the sales of something else.
Junk food like McDonald's and Snickers bars have been shown to be addictive.
They are all the same type of product. It's amazing to see those involved in tech attempt over and over again to rationalize themselves out of that obvious connection.
Surprised no one has mentioned the Delmar divide in St Louis.

Not saying you need to agree with that. But that does appear to be at least an "indication"
Scaring people is a fantastic way to create and emotional connection and increase engagement do to the fear of missing out on new information. The type of thing that will get you to check your phone every couple minutes all day.
In the back of my head I've always felt(without any information to back it up) that the anti vaccination movement was one of the first real big public health impacts to come out of Facebook and other social applications that serve content designed to cause emotional reactions to increase engagement.
I should add that I do not believe any of this is intentional as opposed to simply optimizing for engagement over time.
No real desire to argue the semantics of what I wrote. This is bizarre. Anyhow, the difference is that one situation is an issue of perception and the other is of actual fraud. Not sure why you think perception and reality are identical things.
Otherwise known as the income that one would have previously obtained by renting a room to a permanent resident. The big difference with Airbnb is that the service is removing potential rooms and roommate situations from the market. I'm not going to say whether Airbnb is a good thing as honestly I'm leaning toward it being a net benefit. But to say it has not made finding a place to live permanently in places like SF and NYC more difficult for 1st time and early in life renters is difficult for me to agree with.
All progress has a price. And often that price is worth the benefit. But let's not pretend there are not people out there that will be worse off in the short term.
