higginsniggins··on It's not a fear of "AI communism"; it's a fear of competitive market capitalism
Yes but at the very least they are an insurance against the big companies deciding to Enshittify their product.

For example if (when) open ai decides to 10x their price once every one is sufficiently hooked these open weight models will still be here.

higginsniggins··on New York's small business owners rejoice as Mamdani cuts red tape
Rent control is just one of many factors that affect an incentive to build. For example (and these are hypothetical numbers just to show the point), if rent control made developers 10 percent less likely to build but easing building restrictions made them 50 percent more likely, it would result in a net gain for building overall.
higginsniggins··on New York's small business owners rejoice as Mamdani cuts red tape
If anything, being against monopolies is actually pro small business because monopolies make it harder for small businesses to compete

higginsniggins··on US battery manufacturing output continues to break records
The value is not in the literal buildings, the value is in the people, the managers, engineers, etc and the owners who know how to run it.

The people who are hired and organized by the korean comapny. This is litterlly the logic that collapsed venezuela's oil industry after it was seized by the state.

"attack on economic activity of the competitors"

Thats competition. It is a feature of markets.

not a bug.

higginsniggins··on Dutch government takes control of Chinese-owned chipmaker Nexperia
A free market just means that people are allowed to buy and sell what they want. If a government decides to help some industries that is irrelevant.

It stops being free when government attacks economic activity, not when it promotes it.
