This is a bold move that reinforces what was already suspected: he is continuing to solidify his power by appealing to Islamic sympathies.

Ataturk strengthened Turkey by moving it away from the regional Islamic influences. He changed the alphabet and implemented laws to guide Turkey toward a secular culture. Islam was acceptable (as Turkey was attempting to be a "free" republic), but not compulsory.

If Erdoğan continues to mold Turkey's future Turkey will soon look more like Syria in terms of culture, and less like Western Europe, which it recently did.

They're still a thing as recently as a year or two ago when I looked into it. They're "perfect" in that the receiver can't be identified from the message or its channel (other than catching him with his radio), and that the message cannot be reversed (encoded w/ a one time pad). So they're hard to replace.

Are you sure it was supposed to provide "cover for spies"? AFAIK onion routing was an invention of the US Naval Research Laboratories and was public from the beginning. If you want "spies" to use it, you don't want them connecting to known gateways. High anonymity (simplex) is why number stations are still a thing.

Nothing new here. I spent a few years working in war zones. I made friends with journalists. They were all (even the "good" ones that I became friends with) full of crap. Even if they wanted to tell the truth they couldn't, because they didn't understand the subject matter well enough.

You're probably sick of this conversation by now :). But at least in radio applications I think that acf[0] is normalized so that it's 1 (typically). And again the ACF is calculated at several lag arguments and the sum is used to build the final graph / array.

How was this in doubt? I invent fire, you see it and copy my idea. Technology transfer. The idea is useful enough that it propagates out to the rest of the world over time. This is intuitive.

They're inverse operations but as far as I understand that's not the only thing going on with the ACF. Taking the phase out is just taking the real part of the FFT is it not? Regardless where's the correlation?

This is obviously going to be subjective. I'd argue that people prone to using the currently popular buzz-word "toxic" when referring to opinions hold certain common political and social viewpoints and beliefs. In other words, this is implicitly a partisan (not objective) project that is mostly an attempt to enumerate wrongthink.
