China is ramping up nuclear:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-11-02/china-cli...
> The first 100.000 kilometers of energy are already spent driving of the lot, building a new car
China is the leader of electric 2-seater cars (Wuling Mini, Geely Panda Mini).
Comparison between a Wuling Mini and a Tesla Model 3:
- battery weight: ~100 kg vs. 500+ kg
- total weight: ~600 kg vs. 1,600+ kg
- retail price: ~5,000 EUR vs. ~50,000 EUR
I doubt it takes as much energy to break even on a Wuling Mini than it does on a Model 3.
A better question would be - why should Europeans be excluded from affordable electric Chinese cars because of the political chess between the US and China?
1) Zig is memory-unsafe and thread-unsafe whereas Rust isn't.
2) Zig is easier to learn whereas Rust isn't.
3) Zig isn't stable yet whereas Rust is.
ChatGPT can help with Rust:

However ChatGPT can't help with Zig since Zig hasn't stabilized yet. Features like for-loops (introduced in 2022) aren't familiar to ChatGPT since ChatGPT's cut-off date is 2021.

I would use Bing even more if I knew how to disable these things. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Which uses x8 less memory than the Python implementation for the tiny model. It would be a good idea to keep an eye on it since there are Python bindings planned on the roadmap:

From another comment:
1) using JavaScriptCore instead of V8
2) porting esbuild from Go to Zig
I have a couple of questions about (2):
1. How long did it take you to port esbuild?
2. Why did you choose to port esbuild to Zig instead of another language e.g. V?
I learned about this today. Looking forward to turning it on on my ThinkPad. The default behavior on Windows 10 with the Synaptics drivers for my ThinkPad X1 Carbon gen 3 (2015) is not to have any acceleration, only inertia.
My personal opinion is that 3-finger drag-and-drop > double-tap-and-hold for 2 reasons:
- there is no delay
- you don't risk running out of space when dragging things. You can leave 2 fingers on the trackpad and keep dragging with your 3rd finger.
About the 3-finger drag-and-drop - it used to be on by default. Now you have to enable it manually since 3-finger swipes are bound to Mission Control and Expose. Once you enable it, Mission Control and Expose will be bound to 4-finger swipes. To enable it:
- Go to Settings > Accessibility > Pointer Control > Trackpad Options...
- tick the box 'Enable dragging'
- select 'three finger drag'
Demo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LFzxpT8mFk&t=129s
You don't need to worry about running out of space when dragging with 3 fingers - once you start dragging with 3 fingers, you can leave 2 fingers on the trackpad and keep dragging with your 3rd finger.
1) The acceleration. The faster you move your finger, the farther you can fling out the cursor. For comparison, my ThinkPad's trackpad simulates a trackball i.e. it doesn't have acceleration, only inertia.
2) 3-finger drag-and-dropping. As far I know, the MacBook is the only laptop that supports this. Also you can simulate a left mouse button press-and-hold by resting 3 fingers on the trackpad.
3) The feeling. The glass surface make it feel like you're sliding your fingers on butter.

All the ones I've seen are stupid expensive, though.
So even if you have an iPhone SE 1st gen (released 2016) or an iPad mini 4 (released 2015), you still won't be able to accept the new T&Cs.

It's expected to be released before WWDC.
According to the article, an AR/VR headset has been an R&D project at Apple since at least 2015.
Unless you can give an example, I'm going to have to say you're still spreading lies.
The issues with autofree were fixed in June 2022. From V's homepage (https://vlang.io/):
> (June 9, 2022) As of today, programs built with the V compiler no longer leak memory by default.

I don't think HN is the place for football tribalism. We're discussing tools. Please don't get so emotionally attached to a tool.
I mentioned a language with a Go-like syntax in a discussion about a port of a Go project. I haven't been critical of Zig anywhere in the thread.
Bless you. Not only do my neighbors burn wood for heating but I also have to use an AC for heating. Totally forgot air purifiers existed.
1) I was dealing with 2 sets of data in an unfamiliar language. There was an overlap of the data. I needed to see the unique data for each set. ChatGPT gave me the solution for this.
2) I needed to interact with an RSS feed of a website. There wasn't an RSS feed for the data I was after. ChatGPT generated a program retrieving the data via the website's API and then generated a second program which converted the data to an RSS feed.
For the increased productivity, I can see how $100/month can be within developers' budgets considering their salaries.
I meant to ask my question in the spirit of HN (intellectual curiosity). I have found this community insightful when it comes to programming languages. Examples:

I think this question will also be raised eventually since there have been other examples of Zig ports of Go projects:

I'm looking forward to OP's update. I believe it will be objective and insightful (surprisingly Google returns 0 results of "vlang vs. zig").
I work professionally with Go and I follow news about V, yes. Also I'm interested in discussions involving Zig and V because even though there is an overlap of the design goals of the languages (e.g. zero-cost interoperability with C, high performance), there aren't many comparisons between them online.
My advice is listen to the criticism of Zig to improve the language instead of making throwaway accounts to accuse people.
It seems the V port should be pretty straightforward (the repo is 880 LOC and doesn't have any dependencies).

I would expect V to be a more natural choice for a port than Zig.
