Chatgpt gives us answers, but so do the top linked articles in a search engine. Why bother adjusting to something different if we already have something that solves the problem?
For most people, the marginal amount of time saved by using chatgpt instead of a search engine is borderline meaningless. It might be useful for lawyers to quickly tl;dr dry legal documents, but general use seems far fetched to me
I remember thinking earlier, it's kind of odd that teenagers "running off to join ISIS" was a widespread problem. In hindsight the shills probably blew that whole thing out of proportion to justify more agency scope creep
So because the government does something (THANK GOD), we all need to advocate for more government?
These agencies have already seen massive scope creep in the past couple decades. Seeing the FBI doing moderation for social media companies is a step too far and it's high time for the alphabet agencies to get pared down
There's enough surplus in any western society that this sort of zero sum thinking is completely out of place. Anyone who would consciously sacrifice another human being for something inanimate like "infrastructure" is sick in the head
Likely because the list itself is the product of class bias
"White space" is offensive but "white trash" isn't?
The stage is already set. Just make sure your suitcase is packed. The craziness won't come from the government, it'll come from this culture's own inherently fascist tendencies
Perhaps it isn't about freedom of speech but centralization of power. Protest all you want, but if you advocate for the centralization of power in government or corporate hands then you shouldn't complain when you can't protest anymore without getting the same treatment Chinese protestors are receiving
I don't buy this. It isn't something that comes from a small group of people "with status" but is a collective tradition. The idea that a small group of people "with status" can just willy nilly describe what's "real" and what isn't is a fundamentally undemocratic way of seeing society
The idea that some people have a right to manufacture "reality" out of thin air comes from the same set of lies that propped up the Catholic church. Compare this the idea that each person has a unique relationship with God and doesn't need a priestly class to "mediate" the relationship
If the "social harmony" can't handle the light of day, then it is the one that will need to adjust
No, not really. Unless you're surrounded by bad people
by "power dynamics", do you mean lies propagated by the CCP?
> Perhaps playing the game over a longer time frame?
Apple isn't a government. What do you mean here exactly? Money? That propagating lies for money is a legitimate way of doing business?
Or pretending to care about the environment, then forcing people to buy new devices (with packaging) instead of repairing the ones they already own
Or pretending to care about privacy, then scanning local files for "undesirable content" (it doesn't matter what the content is, once the infra is there, it's there to stay)
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that whenever a corporation says something that sounds good, it's probably a lie.
The only thing that will ever force Apple's hand with regard to this human rights issue is legislation, they've lost the right to trust long ago
It would be easier to just ban them with legislation, similar to what's been done with Huawei
What's wrong about the stack part? It seemed a little odd (and unnecessarily abstract) that the author said "automatic storage" instead of just stack
is there a situation where there's automatic storage but no stack?
Wasn't what was said in my comment. It was about protests of the lockdowns and the govt/media response to said protests
Did you only skim read my comment before posting a one sentence reply?
wasn't the intended meaning
why is it called constant time if it isn't constant with respect to array length? Just seems confusing because the algorithm is linear without a short circuit
I wouldn't be surprised if I heard the same rhetoric out of the CCP's mouth with respect to the current protestors
> The percentage decline is also similar for the young and old; however, given how much time young people spend with friends, the absolute decline among Americans age 15 to 19 is staggering.
This "given how much time young people spend with friends" just sounds off to me, like it's supposed to be some sort of constant value, and that human nature, social dynamics, etc are fixed to historical quantities.
On the one hand, should young people spend more time with friends? Probably. But on the other hand, this sort of "facts of life" type of assertion comes off as manipulative
Protesting lockdowns in USA == "fascism"
That's the pattern here. Anything that goes farther than what the US govt is doing is authoritarian. Anything critical of what the US govt is doing is "fascism"
Sorry, no room for double standards here
Inb4 a bunch of people who feel the need to shill for the US govt start "explaining" to me why I'm "mistaken" about this
It's like the author (and others here) see the artist and art as separate entities, as if art is just regular labor that gets separated from a worker
What makes Kafka good? Not just the words on the page, or the prose behind the words on the page, but the person who wrote it and his own unique life experiences. Same for art
The fact that some people see art as just another product of labor and not something more personal is incredibly chilling and solipsistic
Not only this, but long term if we start to separate the creator from the creation, we no longer will control the terms of the creation. Imagine a hypothetical world where everyone forgets how to actually make art, and the AI art generators are rigged to try not to show any regime-critical art
Will AI replace art? I doubt it, but the way we're talking about it is chilling
His first mistake. He (and a whole bunch of others) forgot the principle of least privilege. The moment you start letting a company like google domesticate your usage patterns, you're essentially their bitch from that point onward. Better to keep all of their stuff compartmentalized
Ah yes, because this problem is independent from any other problems such as robbery, car break ins, homelessness, drugs, etc
