headhunter··on ITA's old “Hiring Puzzles” is still a treasure trove of good problems
Good problems, yes. But effective interview tools? I thought we were moving away from arbitrary puzzles during technical assessments.
headhunter··on Why we should all be using Windows 95
I'm not an apple fan, in general, but I agree. I would do everything on linux mint (pretty windows 95-ish) if I could.
headhunter··on Why we should all be using Windows 95
> Windows 95 main objective was to allow you to use a computer easily.

>And it did just that.

That's true. Nowadays, if an OS only gave you the ability to use a computer easily, would people like it or hate it?

I don't know. What does Windows 10 provide beyond the ability to use a computer?

headhunter··on Microsoft calls for dismissal of U.S. Supreme Court privacy fight
You've described an AI politician. Doesn't sound so bad now, huh?

Will you turn over your leadership to the machines? Humans are so bad at it.

headhunter··on The Octopus: Stable Genius
That's an amazing article. Thanks for sharing. They truly are such cool creatures.
headhunter··on Show HN: Resume Worded – Write impactful resumes
These people weren't successful because of their resumes - they were successful in their past roles, which is effectively communicated on their resumes. Because of their past success, they were hired into a different better/more prestigious/more impactful role.

Step 1 of having a good resume: be a good employee

Step 2 of having a good resume: effectively communicate how/why you are a good employee

headhunter··on My Father the Werewolf
Amazing piece, thank you for sharing. One bit in particular stuck out: "After all, every werewolf story also ends up with self-imprisonment—ostensibly to protect others, but really so the werewolf can protect itself from the wounds of the world."

I've always seen the story of the werewolf as an allegory for the alcoholic, and your commentary gave me a lot to think about.

headhunter··on Electric cars are not the answer to air pollution, says UK adviser
Well, that's an interesting problem to solve.

In the situation you propose, you have would-be car owners who now share a car. That eliminates the pollution involved in the manufacturing of one car from the story. And yes, if the car had to make back and forth trips from a central location, that would be inefficient. But I think the idea is to have a network of shared infrastructure (similar to uber), so that if someone needs a car, they can have access to the closest available one.

headhunter··on New spacesuit by Boeing: First look at the suit that will take astronauts to ISS
I like how it can rapidly deflate and still be something practical that the astronauts can wear comfortably while indoors. Very clever. Almost makes me wish that we could move towards a society where fashion was irrelevant in consideration to function, and we could all walk around in multipurpose jumpsuits like this.
headhunter··on Google Pixel: the Android iPhone you've been waiting for
I'm with you. I'm really unclear about why this is exciting to people... it seems like an iPhone that runs android.
headhunter··on Hillary's IT guy asking Reddit how to cover up emails
At first I thought this was a total hoax, but the account has been deleted and the incriminating posts are over 2 years old. Here is a pastebin I found of online information linking all his profiles together: http://pastebin.com/NmXcUC1X

This is pretty incriminating.
