hbz··on The iPhone 5 has reportedly been jailbroken
Apple can't really keep vulnerabilities in iOS even if people demand jailbreaks. It's their obligation to patch them whenever possible to avoid third parties using the same hole to do something malicious.
hbz··on Say Hello to Realtime Collaboration
It would probably be a huge security risk just to visit the demo page if people weren't constantly pasting over each other with "MY PENIS" in HTML/CSS/JS

edit2- No proof of any security risks, not like I tried any

I was just observing, didn't know I was stumbling on a live canvas when I clicked the link :)

hbz··on GoDaddy outage caused by corrupted router tables
"The service outage was not caused by external influences. It was not a "hack" and it was not a denial of service attack."

So Anonymous0wn3r or whoever was just claiming responsibility for something they had no hand in? The router tables just corrupted themselves?

hbz··on 9to5
You did the right thing in this situation. Always good to see cooler heads prevail, despite the wrongs of the situation.
hbz··on Fleksy - Awesome new predictive text input method
I remember this product back when it was called BlindType. If you combined no look input with swype, I think would be a pretty robust product.
hbz··on Craigslist Redesign? Hiring UI Designer
I would think any sufficiently senior UI/design person hasn't touched C/C++ in a while.
hbz··on CryEngine 3 gives us a glimpse at the future of gaming [video]
Crytek isn't going to do your job for you, they make the tools that others use to make high interactive gameworlds and characters. They also happen to make a game from their engine called Crysis but I wouldn't call the be-all-end-all of FPSs.
hbz··on The one interview question I always ask
My favorite interviewing question is: When was the last time you used your skills/ability outside of a work context to make your life easier?

I feel like it's important to have people who think practically about the kinds of problems they feel like solving and whether they actually make an attempt to solve them. There's nothing wrong with leaving work at the office but we tend to look people who are extremely passionate about technology in general, not just people who use it as a paycheck.

hbz··on [dead]
Seeing HN full of unattributed reposts is a 'fate worse than death'
hbz··on Show HN: roll.io eats txt files and shits youtube videos. Useful?
I think it's useful and very well made. Nice job!
hbz··on Co-Founding a Startup
Would this pull event data from existing social networks like Facebook, foursquare etc?
hbz··on Show HN: Hacker Typer [joke]
I loved this.

Could you please specify a monospaced font? It just feels so wrong otherwise.

hbz··on A GeekDad’s 8-Year Old Daughter Reinvents Chess
Found a link to the rules in the comments: http://changizi.wordpress.com/2011/04/20/plastic-animal-ches...
hbz··on Samsung installs keylogger on its laptop computers
I wonder where it stores all this logged information. Despite a lot of references to the Sony rootkit, the author doesn't specifically call this a rootkit other than to say it's "completely undetectable" (not really). There's also mention of traces of the program being found in c:\windows\SL, which means its not very well hidden. More information is required.
hbz··on I wanna work at Instagram
I think she did a great job. Her portfolio site is nice as well.
hbz··on Splendid Bacon: Simple Project Management for Hackers, built in 48 hours
Damn, there goes my shot at asking you for the code so we can run it internally at my job :(
hbz··on BlindType has been acquired by Google
Now all we need is BlindSwype. The functionality of both products aren't mutually exclusive!
