hazn··on Swift Project in 2023
I am fascinated by how the general community perceives swift. The PL theory community seems to appreciate its innovations, while the (online) dev community sees it as Apple's own C#.

Ultimately, I think Swift is a hugely underrated language, mainly because of outdated criticism.

hazn··on Adding a hinge to a Game Boy that God never intended
Personally, I find the gameboy advance sp one of the slickest designs ever. You could say that the sp is one of the most iterated on designs in later nintendo products
hazn··on Fresh 1.1 – Automatic JSX, plugins, DevTools, and more
this update fixed all the drawbacks I experienced while building my webpage: www.hazn.deno.dev

Fresh and deno are the embodiment of: ergonimic, performant, secure — pick three.

thank you (and all the contributors) for your work :)

hazn··on Why A4? – The Mathematical Beauty of Paper Size
Beautiful (in an educational sense and in a visual sense) CGP Grey video on metric paper: https://youtu.be/pUF5esTscZI
hazn··on Jetpack Compose 1.2 is now stable
The alpha was (as expected) rough. Jetpack compose works (best) when used in android studio, similar to the SwiftUI <-> XCode dependency.

Semi-big upfront cost of learning the IDE/framework/config quirks, but other than that, the future of dev android frontend experience.

hazn··on Comparing Rust and JavaScript
The fact that it was written in Rust (or any other non-VM lang) is meaningful because programs written in a Language that needs a VM (All the GC'd languages for example) need the vm to be shipped as well. Thus, making the WASM-program larger and slower.
hazn··on Rust: A Critical Retrospective
Swift is getting ownership/borrow checker mechanisms in Swift 6[1]. Kotlin and Swift have very similar ergonomics [2] (little outdated link).

Together with Actors types/Distributed runtimes, Optional Automatic Reference Counting and good support on Linux, Swift is developing into a killer language imo.

hazn··on Switching from macOS to Pop_OS
This thread has a special focus on switching the operating system from macOS to Pop_OS. In this context, mentioning missing features between the operating systems is valid.

I don’t really like the snide nature of your comment, people care a lot about things like trackpad functionalities. Objectively, unix has been lacking in this department.

hazn··on Swift-DocC Is Now Open Source
Here is a video from this years WWDC showing all the cool stuff you can do with DocC: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2021/10166/

I personally think it was a great idea to open source this, since everyone's main complaint about DocC were rooted in its proprietary nature [0][1]

hazn··on Women-Are-Wonderful Effect
sexism is inherently not only about "women-hating". You making that assumption is showing your bias, not the bias of the wikipedia article.
hazn··on Elixir GenServer Explained
And in recent computer science (~30 years) we often pick unintuitive names for things.

Examples: WebAssembly(neither web, nor assembly), Serverless (has a server, actually), JavaScript.

hazn··on Oberon OS Walkthrough (2009)
This great article on TempleOS has the same comparision to Oberon: http://www.codersnotes.com/notes/a-constructive-look-at-temp...
