I've gotten support for both Adwords and Adsense and can successful claim I've been unbanned from both at different periods of time. That isn't to excuse your point but wanted to put this out there that while difficult, it is possible.
Every idea with intent of becoming a business has the goal of growing and being sustainable. That's too vague. I would prefer to work on ideas that I care deeply about because those are ideas I enjoy the most and if that is true, there is often a more in-depth goal of where I wish the idea or project to be headed even if I don't necessarily have all the details or answers mapped out.
If you don't have an answer like this in mind, at best my suggestion is to keep thinking until something feels right.
In a talk given by Bill Gates, he mentioned that Microsoft only took on an investment once and it wasn't because company needed money but because Bill Gates wanted to bring on an investor to be on Microsoft's board of directors and that was the only way to do so. Supposedly that investor has been on the Microsoft board for decades.
Obviously because they technically did raise funding, might not satisfy the question
I am fairly certain there are way more than just this but ultimately this is one of the things I'd like to see happen.
I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice.
If you expect to be profitable and do not wish to raise, venture debt or other means of capitals might make more sense. Alternatively being profitable does not mean you shouldn't raise. Raising capital helps with bringing on board investors and mentors you otherwise lack access to, capital to accelerate growth, etc.
Unless you expect insane growth and profit without the need of new capital, chances are anyone investing would want the company to scale up quite large.
Again, as a disclaimer, I am not an investor but this is just what I understand being in the startup game for some time.
If you have a solid portoflio, solid work experience, etc... this might not be an issue down the road but it can be difficult just making that first step. Unlike Junto, I didn't get a degree. I dropped out. I regret not doing something about it sooner. Although things did work out in the end, having that degree would have been much easier even if the courses and everything else turned out to be useless relative to what you do.
Go to school. Work on projects and learn on the side. Make connections while you're still in college.
Didn't change the fact that they were sued on grounds of infringing on data that was public. Whether they were right to do so or not is up to the legal system to decide.
