hartator··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (October 2026)
SerpApi | https://serpapi.com | Junior to Senior Fullstack Engineer multiple positions | Customer Success Engineer | Hiring Coordinator | Python/Ruby/PHP/Js/Rust/Kotlin/C#/Crystal/Nim/Elixir Developer Advocate positions | Based in Austin, TX but remote-first structure | Full-time | ONSITE or FULLY REMOTE | $150K - 180K a year 1099 for US or local avg + 20% for outside the US

SerpApi is the leading API to scrape and parse search engine results. We provide 100+ APIs to Google, Google Maps, Google Images, Bing, Baidu, and more.

Our current stack is Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, and React.JS. We are looking for more Junior and Senior FullStack Engineers.

We have an awesome work environment: We are a remote first company (before Covid!). We do continuous integration, continuous deployments, code reviews, code pairings, profit sharing, and most of communication is async via GitHub.

We value super strongly transparency, do open books, have a public roadmap, and contribute to the EFF.

hartator··on Jev in 25 Lines of Python
Isn’t Jev built on top of Qwen?
hartator··on MCP was always a bad idea?
Isn’t Markdown header the same thing? Kicking the can further until models catch up?
hartator··on Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously
Don’t get the negativity here, AI will replace everything sooner or later.
hartator··on LLMs as a Cognitive Virus
I think LLMs just push us to think differently - hopefully an elevated way not in a dumb way.
hartator··on GPT-6 Astra
Tell a funny joke.
hartator··on Fable 5.1 World Modeling
Kind of interesting that most ai games want me to sign in.
hartator··on Fable 5.1 World Modeling
Started the Matrix
hartator··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (September 2026)

hartator··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
hold your horses there
hartator··on Small Models Have Arrived
I have trouble seeing the points of using less capable models.

I just want the smartest, best, and most capable models. It feels smaller models for speed and cost are just transitions towards better hardware allowing the very best model.

hartator··on Trade (and Tariffs)
Tarrifs are the worst decision a politician can make.

The main reason we have open-ish border for people and goods is to reduce the risk of war. You are not going to wage war with a country that do business with.

This undermines this idea.

hartator··on Show HN: How much of Hacker News is about AI?
Would be curious to see how many comments are AI generated.
hartator··on Anti-AI fonts are useless and harmful
It also mostly don’t work.
hartator··on Anthropic Risk August 2026 [pdf]
> 5.3 Benefits from Anthropic’s operating as a frontier AI company

It does feel they are trying to ask the government to lock the market for us.

hartator··on Process as a Proxy for Motivation
I think I would avocate actually against processes. Processes are nice, handy, and sage, but that assumes you have unlimited time. A baby crying and death approaching really make you rethinking useless 1-1s and meetings.
hartator··on Process as a Proxy for Motivation
> The ‘optimal’ approach would be to check traffic, analyze the data, and shave off five minutes from my journey.

Why not letting Google Maps decide?

hartator··on Grok 4.6
I am noting Opus 5 is omitted. Interesting as I thought it benched better than Fable 5 in a few benchmarks.
hartator··on Show HN: Write.md, a free, open-source, themeable Markdown editor for macOS
No image support though.
hartator··on Show HN: Write.md – A Markdown editor for macOS
I wish we can have a good markdown support with images ala GitHub (good days).
hartator··on Reviving a four year old reMarkable 2
Several of my notes got lost in the ReMarkable cloud. I don’t think you are missing much.
hartator··on Making difficulty curves in games
I never liked this kind of games - skills are locked depending where you are at the stories.

Multiplayer FPS, strategy games, and sport games are still very enjoyable without these mechanisms.

hartator··on GPT-5.6 vs. Claude Fable 5 for Physical AI, which performs best?
It's kind of interesting this is already out of data as it's missing Kimi 3 and Opus 5.
hartator··on Google Kills Custom Search API on Jan 1, 2027
You are welcome!
hartator··on Google Kills Custom Search API on Jan 1, 2027
The article forgot to mention that Goggle is suing us, SerpApi the main alternative.

Our take: https://serpapi.com/blog/google-v-serpapi-motion-to-dismiss-...

hartator··on GitHub is proud to announce that you can now obtain your public repo on CD-ROM
This is a wrong move on so many levels.
hartator··on RubyLLM: A Ruby framework for all major AI providers
‘acts_as_chat’ feels super cute indeed.
hartator··on TREX: An AI code reviewer that runs your code
In my experience, you still are left with these annoying parts. (Ie, figuring out how to give appropriate access to your agents)
hartator··on Show HN: DomainTasker – avoid losing domains and surprise renewals
You need a screenshot of the UI instead of a 16-pages AI-generated brand guideline.
