haridsv··on Attach a volume to a container while it is running
Got it working. The problem was that /dev/mapper/vg-home was a symbolic link so stat wasn't giving the right major and minor numbers, so once I fixed that it worked well.
haridsv··on Attach a volume to a container while it is running
Has anyone gotten this script to work? In my case, the device name happened to be /dev/mapper/vg-home, so I had to manually create /dev/mapper for the mknod to work. I also had to specify the fstype, but now I am seeing the below error:

mount: /dev/mapper/vg-home is not a valid block device

haridsv··on SSH tricks
Very cool! Is there any security risk in running nc on the gateway this way?

How do you use the -f option for the master? Do you run a command that just waits for ever? What command do you run?
haridsv··on A revisionist history of the best laptop at any price: the Cr-48
I gave mine to someone who just started learning web programming and it has been great! Using shiftedit with dropbox for creating and editing files, and the battery life on it is amazing. But, i agree, ChromeOS is mot for everyone.
haridsv··on Apple still owns tablet market, but Android narrows the gap
That is mainly due to the difference in bundled market.
haridsv··on Microsoft upgrades Xbox Live with live TV, and Kinect voice control
Fails to mention that you need gold subscription for any of those, including Netflix.
haridsv··on Gow – The lightweight alternative to Cygwin
There is someone paying to do this port right now: https://www.odesk.com/jobs/Port-linux-bit_~~2416926dd8d9a963...

In my last job, I used colinux with Windows 7 and it was a match made in heaven. But when I moved, I had to choose the next best thing, which is Mac OS X, because of lack of support for 64-bit windows.

haridsv··on Shapecatcher - draw the unicode character you want
Very useful, fun and even has research value. Draw a circle and find a lot of emoticons. I couldn't find any of the letters from my mother tongue though, hopefully they will be added.
haridsv··on Android on the HP Touchpad (Alpha Release)
A lot of people don't know that you can move the cards around so that you can arrange two cards to be right next to each other, if you could speed up your workflow that way. I also don't like how you have to keep the home button pressed pon android, may be it is just my phone, but I would rather have an instant response to pressing home button rather than a timed one.
haridsv··on Web Vi
You can use jVi plugin that automatically enables vi bindings on text boxes.
haridsv··on Show HN: Smozzy (for Android/T-Mobile) - browse the web without a data plan
I am wondering how expensive this would be for a pre-paid plan as a last resort to google information or fetch some mobile sites. I know it is 10c to send SMS and 25c to receive MMS, so can we assume that it would cost a minimum of 35c per each request? If the browser requests more resources when the JS is executed, would it automatically result in more requests to be sent? Can this be somehow controlled? I have unlimited data, so don't need this, but the wife uses a prepaid plan and T-Mobile has no viable data options, so would like to give this option in case of "emergency".
haridsv··on The Secret Ingredient In Your Orange Juice
Article says deoxidation causes the orange juice to become bland, so what happens to the original sugars? I can understand adding flavors, but that would not bring back the sweetness, if the deoxidation destroyed them, so do they add extra sugars as well?
haridsv··on India’s Second Freedom Struggle
Well said! Very badly written.
haridsv··on Is Microsoft trying to end the reign of mobile carriers?
If any caller can find out if I am on a call or not (among other details), it could be a big privacy or even a security issue.
haridsv··on Poll: What is your experience with EverNote?
Thanks for asking the question, I have been doing the research myself to move away from google notes and google bookmarks. I have been trying Evernote and so far don't like it much. All the interfaces that I tried (web, windows client, chrome extension, iphone and android apps) are clumsy, slow and lacking. I don't especially like the fact that desktop clients have offline support for free, but you need to pay for the mobile clients to get this functionality. I am looking at SpringPad as an alternative (their web and android interface seems snappy, and they support offline storage as well as no storage limits), but waiting for them to add a feature to import and export data. I will not try a product that locks in user data.
