One is easier and carries no risk.
happyscrappy··on Internet Radio Copyright Is Dumb: A Comprehensive Explainer
Think of how crazy things are right now. With Spotify or Apple Music you can just make lists of all the music you want and record the output. You could do this with terrestrial radio(I did!) but you couldn't control what was played so it was quite different. The only thing stopping people from having every song they ever wanted for $10 is laziness.
happyscrappy··on VW slumps to first quarterly loss in at least 15 years
VW fraud likely killed almost one hundred Americans but far more Europeans.

happyscrappy··on The Two Asian Americas
I am not sure of the point here. I think we have to help those that need help first, I mean what are we going to do start pushing for increased aid for those of Irish descent.
happyscrappy··on A debtors’ prison in Mississippi
The police are the chemo and the cancer is crime.
happyscrappy··on A debtors’ prison in Mississippi
That is probably the reason that you lose your license after three speeding tickets in a year.
happyscrappy··on Who’s to Blame for Mass Incarceration?
>Could this be a coincidence

It could be aliens, but Occams razor. Criminals cannot commit crimes if they are in prison. It is quite revealing that people willfully deny that and the narrative is the cop is the perp and the perp is the victim.

happyscrappy··on A debtors’ prison in Mississippi
Europe being larger and richer should be the center of the West.
happyscrappy··on A debtors’ prison in Mississippi
Europeans seem to need to believe that Americans are horribly oppressed, but of course that is laughable in the same way as thinking they will be carjacked if they come to the US. Watching too many American movies maybe. Americans pay little attention to Europe while Europeans obsess over America, which sets an odd dynamic because Europe is larger and richer yet somehow ineffectual in comparison.
happyscrappy··on Norwegians Use the Word “Texas” as Slang to Mean “Crazy”
Well they can both be wrong.
happyscrappy··on A debtors’ prison in Mississippi
So if you are poor enough you can speed with impunity? If you take away their license they could go hungry.
happyscrappy··on A debtors’ prison in Mississippi
Well they could take the fine directly out of their government assistance and then the fine would not balloon.
happyscrappy··on Who’s to Blame for Mass Incarceration?
More criminals behind bars, lower crime. It may not fit your narrative but it should not be hard to understand.
happyscrappy··on Indonesia's palm oil fires emitted more greenhouse gases in a day than the U.S.
I've got nipples Faulker.
happyscrappy··on The NYPD Is Using Mobile X-Ray Vans to Spy on Unknown Targets
They are not looking for solutions, they are here for the hate.
happyscrappy··on Europe's love affair with diesel cars has been a disaster
Europeans will deny anything is wrong with diesels right up until their air pollution crisis forces action.
happyscrappy··on How to Protect Yourself from NSA Attacks on 1024-bit DH
A good deal of this is to try to take the US down a notch because they are seen as too powerful. This is why it is rarely mentioned how close the entire West works together, hell what are you going to do hate the entire West? Recently they have had to concede the UK and eventually will have to concede the entire West and then the game is over unless you like actual authoritarianism like China and Russia.
happyscrappy··on First thoughts on the decision invalidating Safe Harbor
It will be interesting to see how much cost companies will bear before they give up on Europe.
happyscrappy··on First thoughts on the decision invalidating Safe Harbor
>effectively hiding it from US mass surveillance

How effective would it really be?

happyscrappy··on EU data protection law after the Safe Harbour judgment
Nope, more useless EU bureaucracy (stupid cookie popup) just to pretend that the NSA won't get (be given) the data by EU governments. Everyone thinks the cookie law is dumb, but there it is, constantly reminding everyone of their folly.
happyscrappy··on The world needs at least 600M new jobs in the next decade for young people
> people don't do well with unpredictability

Neither do long term views, things are moving so fast that long term views are pretty meaningless.

happyscrappy··on The world needs at least 600M new jobs in the next decade for young people
> each generation of humans should have it easier and with more resources available to them.

That is clearly the trend, ups and downs aside. The current generation appears to feel they have it harder than the last few generations. Not even close.

happyscrappy··on The world needs at least 600M new jobs in the next decade for young people
Plumbers and electricians make as much if not more than 'educated' jobs and are impossible to outsource. Education is great and today you can learn virtually anything with an internet connection but family expectations mean you are expected to go the college. 'The government is oppressing me with student loans' is pretty weak sauce and is par for the course lack of personal responsibility. Don't run up debt to major in art history.
happyscrappy··on Why police could seize a college student's life savings without charging him
Yeah, and it's hard to get citizenship!
happyscrappy··on Chinese hackers are arrested at the behest of the U.S. government
It always important in these type of arguments to make sure you speak of the US and not the West in general, that way the status quo is safe and nothing can be done.

happyscrappy··on Stephen Hawking Says We Should Really Be Scared of Capitalism, Not Robots
You can certainly claim they are mixed, but they are all using capitalism, as much as it may bother some people to admit.
happyscrappy··on Stephen Hawking Says We Should Really Be Scared of Capitalism, Not Robots
They are all capitalist economies, like it or not, that is where the money comes from. If Europeans think that their particular country is not capitalist they are confused.
happyscrappy··on Obama Encryption Policy Rejects Laws Mandating Backdoors
And it is. How is it in the interest of TPTB to have weed legalized? Yet it is happening.
happyscrappy··on Verizon revives "zombie cookie" device tracking on AOL's ad network
Apple is not blocking any ads. iAd makes little money and Apple is letting apps that block iAds into the app store. I know some people will oppose Apple no matter what they do but in this case they and the majority of users are right and you are wrong. People have a negative view of advertising for a very good reason.
