My point is, there is an expectation that a happy marriage lasts your whole life, and while there is nothing wrong with a marriage like that, it is not the only happy solution. You can have a relationship end without regretting ever going into it.

I think the problem with arguments regarding free will is that it's very hard to define (like consciousness for that matter). I am my brain. My brain controls what I do. Therefore, I control what I do. Only if we lift up our consciousness or free will as something higher than our brain does this become a problem.
The fact that my free will is deterministic, that is, a consequence of how the brain is structured and how the environment looks, does not change the fact that I, that is, my brain, controls what my body does. If anything, randomness makes this worse - then it is not my brain controlling my body, but some random result of a wave function collapse.
Not sure if this comparison is valid though.

I think it was rather nuanced. Several reasons given:
1) The capitalization of Black has already been accepted by the mainstream - NYT is catching up with the times
2) Other names on American minorities with a shared heritage is already capitalized, like Latino and Asian.
3) African-American is capitalized, but not as inclusive as Black.
At no point, except when referring to some early 20th century worldview, are they talking about all black people worldwide. I read the article as a purely American POV.
Large numbers are very difficult to understand, which is why I think things like this website works.
I also did a shift in whether I considered it a disability or not. In the beginning, it felt like just a tiny part of who I was. But as time went on, the seizures increasing in frequency, and the anxiety related to the seizures going up as well, it started to make a larger and larger impact on my life and, maybe more importantly, my self-image.
I think it is interesting how the same thing can seem so different at different points in time.
