hahahahhaah··on Ask HN: What's your wiring pattern for large addressable LED installs?
Was going to say this has been discussed on HN recently. So searched and found your account asked similar questions before. https://news.ycombinator.com/submitted?id=emmasuntech.
hahahahhaah··on Ask HN: Who do you follow via RSS feed?
No one. It psychologically makes me feel guilty if I can't keep up. I'd weirdly rather have an email and ignore or read it than pull rss and not read for ages. Funny enough the only time I used rss was when I had that cool outlook integration that made them seem like emails.

Why didn't that catch on pre-transistor? Feels like you'd get higher density than valves and relays.

Circle tube, rectangle case.
hahahahhaah··on RIP Low-Code 2014-2025
Low code wont die. But selling low code might.

But if I can get my AI to use an off the shelf open source flow orchestrator rather than manual coding api calls that is better.

hahahahhaah··on People who know the formula for WD-40
No that was the Pepsi
hahahahhaah··on Sony Data Discman
One of those may be useful in say Iran RN.
hahahahhaah··on Sony Data Discman
I had a minidisc but never knew the actual MB capacity. Just you can get a CD on there. Id guess 100Mb? But the Zip drive also competed well in the space, I had one of those too!
hahahahhaah··on Case study: Creative math – How AI fakes proofs
it is an attempt to prove a very specific case of the theorem x = sqrt(x) ^ 2.
hahahahhaah··on The future of software engineering is SRE
Operational excellence will always be needed but part of that is writing good code. If the slop machine has made bad decisions it could be more efficient to rewrite using human expertise and deploy that.
hahahahhaah··on Iran's internet blackout may become permanent, with access for elites only
Can ROTW sanction Iran by giving it zero internet access even to "elites" by refusing to peer.
hahahahhaah··on Ask HN: Do you have any evidence that agentic coding works?
Terraform is a great use case:

* Unrefactorable and highly boilerplatey

* Probably too big a job and low impact to rewrite as IaC

* AI can do all that tedious plumbing well

* Since result is a depoyment not executable code it suffices to check correct resources are created.

hahahahhaah··on Over 36,500 killed in Iran's deadliest massacre, documents reveal
help will come ... but with scare quotes.
hahahahhaah··on Over 36,500 killed in Iran's deadliest massacre, documents reveal
I reckon that would require say 6 gunners in each city. Plausible.
hahahahhaah··on Over 36,500 killed in Iran's deadliest massacre, documents reveal
> I've read a ton of philosophy and something I don't really understand is that one nation killing another is more immoral than when a nation does this to their own domestic population.

Which books say that?

hahahahhaah··on What Ralph Wiggum loops are missing
I am musing with the idea that other than dipping a toe in, investing a lot of time in this stuff is a waste (for this reason) and a better use is get deeper human domain experience in XYZ.
hahahahhaah··on Why is it legal and ok when big corp. straight tries to scam a user?
Yet I got a small cheque this week from FCC vs Amazon so...
hahahahhaah··on Why is it legal and ok when big corp. straight tries to scam a user?
Everyone. Subscribe. Hit the 39.99. File a CC dispute. Then class action.

My theory. Apple not doing this for the money (as this is like me scamming a homeless guy for 0.001c) but someone working for Apple did it to hit an OKR for their promo.

The chargebacks and class action for Apple like me paying a 0.1c fine.

To stop this needs Brussels to sprout.

hahahahhaah··on Amazon braces for another major round of layoffs, 14,000 jobs at risk
An AI bubble pop is going to create depression if this sort of thinking continues. Fire bright people to spend money on questuonable quality AI. If others follow we are saying "all in" and shoving the poker chips on more model improvements.
hahahahhaah··on Amazon braces for another major round of layoffs, 14,000 jobs at risk
Amazon got where it was by ruthlessness. What may not be OK is in US you need a job to get healthcare. But other than that people earning that much can't expect job for life type situation like a firefighter or teacher. In US almost everyone is a defacto contractor by virtue of at will employment.
hahahahhaah··on I added a Bluesky comment section to my blog
Like Disqus I guess. Hopefully though with the magic incentive alignment about who is the product in a better place.

That said in Wordpress you spend zero devops time, and get comments and decent spam filtering options. You also don't need users to have a social account.

hahahahhaah··on Many Small Queries Are Efficient in SQLite
I admit it is rare. It is more likely if the app has search and DB has been optimised to bring the needed retrevied data onto the index. But it isn't like I haven't reached for a clustered index a few times.
hahahahhaah··on Many Small Queries Are Efficient in SQLite
How is it the same IO?

Each query needs to navigate the index then read. The two queries do that twice.

Is it faster to read pages 30-50 of a book by:

a) Go to page 30, read until 50

b) Go to page 30, read that page, close book, open book, go to page 31 and so on.

Each page open you get to binary search to find the page.

hahahahhaah··on Ask HN: Why are so many rolling out their own AI/LLM agent sandboxing solution?
You dont cut all network just decide what you allow to pierce.

For files it has an isolated file system. That can have a git clone.

hahahahhaah··on Many Small Queries Are Efficient in SQLite
One index scan beats 200 index lookups though surely?

I.e. sometimes one query is cheaper. It is not network anymore.

Also you can run your "big" DB like postgres on the same machine too. No law against that.

Unfortunately we need another law because people wanna be bros and douchebags. I don't care how good your game is if you do this ypu are a coward not a real man.
