It’s a devious click and switch game. It’s tricked and continues to trick many a person, not least the old and vulnerable. It’s a form of evil cynicism.

Same here- if they start talking about their kids, it’s over for someone, possibly lots of someones.

The blog is really mixed up and conflates different issues. It uses a tiny set of not representative examples to validate a conclusion the author has already come to. I totally agree that some people and companies take advantage of what others do for free, but that is not new and would be true if you said the same about the relationship between employees and employers or similar. It’s also true that when people go above and beyond someone somewhere could blame or take advantage of the extra those people gave - again not new and totally possible in any scenario or market. We’ve all been there and bought the T-Shirt. The author has expectation mismatch, perhaps taking a break and then making a final decision is best.

Read my comment about this before: the only (best) way to fix this company is to go private and have as part of that a new executive team.

“Nothing more volatile…” erm energy prices in the UK just jumped 70% and it’s not to do with crypto, co2 supply shrank to levels never seen before again nothing to do with crypto both of which affect whole populations. Try to avoid crypto hyperbole. Lastly, I don’t know anybody invested in crypto that hasn’t made money, so anecdotally that indicates the number is much higher than 5%.

That aside - cyber security is an option for your skillset. You sound like someone who should take the plunge and go contracting 4 days per week. It’s either change job, change the terms of the job or quit. If you are that unhappy and your partner loves you, then tell them and they’ll say “ok quit the job and see if you’re happier, we’ll be fine”. If they don’t say that then there is something wrong with the relationship too. Is it the situation or the job that’s the problem?
