h05sz487b··on Young People Hate AI CEOs So Passionately That It's Almost Hard to Believe
TBH the promise of many technologies has been making work redundant. But they used to be more diplomatic about it.
h05sz487b··on Gmail might partially be to blame for receiving emails from other Sean Conners
I think you are correct. I am in the same boat. Consistently, if I send emails to myfirstnamemylastname@gmail.com they are delivered to me. Without fail. I too registered in the beta phase and I do not think anyone has an account without or with more periods than mine.

The type of messages I receive are typically one of things like hotel, reservations, e-commerce shopping receipts. Likely someone misunderstands the address or misses a letter in between. Maybe alerting everone from myfirstnameAmylastname… to myfirstnameZmzlastname@gmail.com helps them take better care.

h05sz487b··on Apple is getting this wrong
On the phone with some App Store support person I was told they don't like people having multiple Apple IDs. That's why I use my personal one for work as well.
h05sz487b··on Nerd culture is murdering intellectuals
Yes. The whole premise seems shoehorned and based on the author neither liking the Marvel Universe nor billionaires.
h05sz487b··on Why the future is local app
I think having data available on more than one device is a huge pool towards the cloud.
h05sz487b··on Military branches restore flu shot requirement after virus swept through base
The United States military is nothing to sneeze at (it would kill them).
h05sz487b··on The European Social Stack
Perfect is the enemy of the good. Anything is better than the oligarchs systems.
h05sz487b··on Local Qwen isn't a worse Opus, it's a different tool
> It is very much like playing an instrument.

Or it is more like playing a slot machine and you imagine the rest.

h05sz487b··on Houses are for living, not for speculation
Yes, if Chinese people could buy their world ETF, like the rest of us, this wouldn't even be an issue.
h05sz487b··on Local AI needs to be the norm
I really want this to be true. For me getting all models to run to the best of my hardwares ability and the cli tool to also make best use of the model is still a headache. I had coding models not being able to do a search and replace depending on the tool through which they were called, visible <thinking> elements in my message flow, agents doing a task, failing at the linter, then reverting everything again so the linter is happy and presenting the result as a "good compromise".

Right now it feels like we have all the pieces but nobody integrating all that into an amazing experience.

h05sz487b··on All my clients wanted a carousel, now it's an AI chatbot
The obvious solution is to implement a mock chatbot that answers from a set of pregenerated wrong answers. Noone will know the difference.
h05sz487b··on Programming Used to Be Free
Yep, this is ahistoric. You used to have to pay for your compiler, not to mention a useable IDE.
h05sz487b··on Programming Used to Be Free
I don't know, there used to be IDE vendors that sold stuff to enterprises and offered freebies for educational purposes. Down the line there will be free offerings by the established players as well as OSS models you can run locally. Right now this is of course not enjoyable on existing hardware that a middle schooler might be using, put a bit more RAM into the MacBook Neo and this might change.
h05sz487b··on OpenYak – An open-source Cowork that runs any model and owns your filesystem
Its your filesystem which is now, also, owned.
h05sz487b··on Father claims Google's AI product fuelled son's delusional spiral
Given that AI is fueling the delusional spiral of some of the worlds top CEOs I can easily imagine this.
h05sz487b··on iPhone 17e
What, if any, mobile phone are you using instead? Even if I would not miss all the features I do not find these feature phone companies more trustworthy. Some are in bed with AdTech companies. Less features does not necessarily mean less tracking.
h05sz487b··on Facebook is cooked
The original moltbook. Just bots talking to each other.
h05sz487b··on Breaking the spell of vibe coding
> which can be facilitated by AI

I’d be thrilled if that AI could finally make one of our most annoying stakeholders test the changes they were so eager to fast track, but hey, I might be surprised.

h05sz487b··on Breaking the spell of vibe coding
Of course people think that, because that is exactly how those agents are being sold. If you tell management that this speeds up the easy part, typing the code, they are convinced you are using it wrong. They want to save 90% of software development cost and you are telling them that’s not possible.
h05sz487b··on Valve is about to win the console generation
I am very much a PC gamer turned couch gamer. I have a capable PC sitting next to my Xbox Series X. The user experience is worse, as everytime I turn it on soemthing needs updating, I cannot control all of Windows through my gamepad. This ticks a lot of boxes for me. Might start witht the Controller first.
h05sz487b··on Germany outfitted half a million balconies with solar panels
Noone is forced or economically has to do this.
h05sz487b··on Track which Electron apps slow down macOS 26 Tahoe
Good that I went with 64 gigs for my last mac. But I'll wait for the first patch at least for this one.
h05sz487b··on ICE Wants to Build Out a 24/7 Social Media Surveillance Team
That would create the risk of people generating, hundreds and thousands of fake profiles and giving ice the runaround, wouldn’t it?
h05sz487b··on Sütterlin
Not at all, no. And I still learned cursive at least.
h05sz487b··on No Hello
Yes, just send back “ack“.
h05sz487b··on DHL suspends B2C shipments over 800 USD until further notice
Bye bye USA. Was nice trading with you.
h05sz487b··on The German language broke my website
Maybe make your layouts more flexible. There’s no reason in the speed bump example, why the word could not be broken into another line.
h05sz487b··on We don't need startups, we need Digital-Mittelstand
Sounds like an insurance driven decision.
h05sz487b··on We don't need startups, we need Digital-Mittelstand
Not too big, not too small, very cozy. I need it.
