guykdm··on Israel and UAE reach historic peace deal, Israel to suspend annexation
Do you think the palastinians in Lebanon and Jordan (not many in egypt) are the reason for those countries being very poor dictatorships?
guykdm··on Israel and UAE reach historic peace deal, Israel to suspend annexation
Not everything is about Israel. Israel isn't the source of the suffering of Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt or the rest of the dirt poor surrounding dictatorships. The Palestinians today mainly suffer at the hands of other Palestinians. Focusing on Israel lacks perspective.

We're really changing that right now.

As an Israeli, I'm ecstatic! UAE citizens - please come and visit Israel, you'll be treated with Abrahamic hospitality and great respect!
guykdm··on Trump says he will ban TikTok through executive action
It seems obvious. Much more support for silencing debate and opposing opinions. Regulation. Enforcing liberal values, such as forbidding discrimination on grounds that are important to them. ext.
guykdm··on Satellite images of the Beirut explosion site – before and after
I said something more nuanced, but It's very natural not to want to be bombed. Israel is mostly busy being a normal livable country for all it's residents. unlike its neighbors.

Corrupt officials would happily auction it. This is stranger.

It's a lot of material and they're strapped for cash. Note the material wasn't sold for years, despite no problem to do so.

It's reasonable that they avoided auctioning the massive amounts of ammonium nitrate because it's useful for bombs (Hezbollah being the strongest force in the government). If that's the case, as the would be target of these bombs, I'm happy it blew up. I'm very sorry for innocent lives lost and for Lebanon in general. I wish they would wise up and join Israel in making the region livable.
guykdm··on Is Dark Mode Such a Good Idea?
A method that one can choose to follow or to fake.
guykdm··on Is Dark Mode Such a Good Idea?
While this commentator invested far less effort than the scientists in reaching his result about dark mode, he also has no benefits from you choosing to believe him or not. You are in fact choosing to see the brand "science" as something transcendental that doesn't concern any incentive structures, which if false and opens you to lots of manipulation.

BTW the origin of the Hebrew Baal, "owner" is the Canaanite word (and deity) Baal, the meaning of which is more directly translated as "ruler".

All kinds of logic is hierarchical. Some use cases are mutually exclusive, which translates to them being nested under different states.
guykdm··on World's 26 richest people own as much as poorest 50%, says Oxfam
Your "harm" by elimination based metric seems rather arbitrary. This rather big bunch of current Amazon employees, if they were cobbled together in a building before they were hired by Bezos, would they have spontaneously created the company? Most probably not. The market sees fairness and reward as proportional to actual creation. This seems just as valid as your abstract reasoning.
guykdm··on World's 26 richest people own as much as poorest 50%, says Oxfam
When you're very poor almost all of your assets are your earning capacity which isn't counted. So a top notch MIT graduate who participated with say 5$ in the cost of his education and can now earn a lot (which can be seen as a yielding asset) is now counted as 5$ poorer. Human capital isn't counted.
