many people have pointed out that covid-19 threads gets burried alot quicker here on HN
For perspective, how many country will actually restrict travel or even undergone state wide lock down for an outbreak of regular flu??
the first tide of WARS(nCoV) "Contagion" have either become ill(hospitalized and quarantined) or dead, so now we're waiting to see if the number of cases outside of China still climbs as a local transmission epidemic
If this tide continues, international country like eg Singapore can super-spread this into global pandemic like H1N1 unless we close off borders and ban all flights/shippings economics/travels...
How viable is such containment actually remains to be seen, lets pray for the best
this outbreak proves humans are doomed to repeat the same mistake
the context for the numbers are 985(graduate from top universities), 996(working 12 hours each for 6 days), 35(age discrimination in firing), 251(days unlawfully locked behind bars), 404(all reports and complaints censored from the web)
the deployment of machines in urban city is only a matter of time, with the rising stake and the scare of massive social movement, "they" will justify the usage to suppress "crime" of dissident
whether the robots are manned or autonomous or self-aware, one thing is inevitable are the harms/deaths caused by "them" eventually
So our relative spacetime scale of a billion years here, might just be a few hours inside some of those crazy dense SUPER MASSIVE blackholes
And with that in mind and some loose sense our whole simulation might just took 1 second of the creator's relative time because...time is relative , just a loose assumption
But why must it be post-human from future? why not a "pre-human-ancestor" from "relatively ages ago" that may have created a simulation to peek into simulated future?(so they can learn and won't make the same mistakes we did)
You may notice a contradiction in my example is IF the creator are instead from the past? How can they even be a human at all if they had to exist before human does?
The thing is chicken and egg "only" if we assume our creator themselves must be human, on the other hand
Today, we are designing/training artificial intelligence life form barely resembling us in simulations and most of their purposes are generally "forecast/solution/learning/gaming"
With the penultimate goal to create ASI to solve problems in nature, perhaps the reality is our universe may just be one of the branches as a result of such humble "exploration"
OBTW are you aware "I AM AI" a slogan favored by Nvidia is a cute palindrome itself that can also be rearranged to "AI AM I", "AM I AI", "AI I AM", "I A I AM" :D
human 'is' set; human set 'has' man | woman; man 'is' human but not human 'is' man
virus 'is' set; virus set 'has' life; life 'is' virus but not virus 'is' life
