The map is just grey. The controls are there though.

146.0.1 on Arch Linux here. Disabled uBlock Origin; no difference. I don't have any other relevant extensions. DoH disabled. No difference in private window.

This didn't work in Firefox.

guerrilla··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
> * Let’s assume the US is going to stabilise Venezuela quickly enough, that the Venezuelan oil will soon flow around, but only to “selected” countries (basically, …. Anyone but China)

This is a bad assumption. Trump has already promised China their oil on the first day of this nonsense. You don't need to steelman anything. Incompetence does exist in the real world. There's no more reason to give them the benefit of the doubt.

guerrilla··on It's hard to justify Tahoe icons
I'm not even going to finish the article. I never want to see these kinds of icons again. You win. Good news is, I'm not seeing a lot of these in GNOME and Gtk+ apps, so I'm already okay. There's only a couple in Firefox. Actually, good luck even locating the menus in GNOME. They keep moving and becoming fewer and fewer with every generation.

What did Afghanistan have to do with Israel?
guerrilla··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
I wish more people understood this.

> After the Iraq war we(US allies that were dragged into this war by a bunch of lies) felt like this was very bad, but it was a blunder of one administration and the trust in the US as a whole was going to be restored.

I don't understand how people can be this naive. It's the only thing the US has ever done for the entirety of it's existence! How did you miss that?

guerrilla··on Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro captured after strikes
Don't expect the administration to make any sense on this topic. The same time they were signing executive orders and blabbing about the US oil industry, they were telling OPEC to lower prices. There's no coherency to be had with them. They simply don't understand the world or trivial economics.

You're way worse than that. You invade everyone all the time and all of it is illegal and wrong.

This is pretty standard for America, nothing new.

Hardly. Besides so much packaging (which isn't relevant), my qualifications are the same as yours. Don't be rude.

> Video cards have been a nightmare on Linux for decades, famously the reason Torvalds gave Nvidia the finger.

What are you talking about... The situation is the same as on Windows, an officially supported and maintained proprietary driver maintained by Nvidia. Unless you're trying to run a 12+ year old car, it'll work fine. AMD on the other hand is amazingland and works perfectly, officially supported and maintained open source driver. I LOVE it.

> bit-twiddling

Never happened.

guerrilla··on Loss32: Let's Build a Win32/Linux
> but Linux hardware support is still crap

What are you talking about? Everything for desktops work out of the box unless you have something weird and proprietary, and even then most distros have support anyway.

I think that's exactly what it was.
guerrilla··on Loss32: Let's Build a Win32/Linux
I've been running GNOME. I've never had breakage from upgrading. Of course there's the fact that GNOME neutered itself, removing many of its own features, but that's a different story and has nothing to do with ABIs or upgrading.

> And Arch itself also needs manual interventions on package updates every so often, just a few weeks ago there was a major change to the NVidia driver packaging.

If you're running a proprietary driver on a 12 year old GPU architecture incapable of modern games or AI, yeah... so I actually haven't needed to care about many of these. Maybe 2 or 3 ever...

guerrilla··on Loss32: Let's Build a Win32/Linux
Whatever, at least it can be a desktop alternative to GNOME and KDE where you can also run exes.

> If they use a rolling distro, they hate the constant brokenness that comes with it.

Never happens for me on Arch, which I've run as my primary desktop for 15 years.

Which is absolutely enormous, so this distinction is splitting hairs.

Well, that's dark.
guerrilla··on Researchers discover molecular difference in autistic brains
God, why are so many people commenting out of their depth today.

> Reduce receptors. This might suggest a _developmental_ or genetic link. Think of this more like "height" or a particular "facial feature" of a person.

No. This isn't how it works at all. Receptor counts are extremely plastic, able to change within a weeks and in some cases hours. This is how you get drug tolerance.

guerrilla··on Researchers discover molecular difference in autistic brains
A lot of people in the corresponding Reddit threads claim that NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) might help.

> boosting glutamate won't work.

You would not want to boost glutamate. It's the opposite. You want to reduce glutamate and/or increase GABA. The problem is overexcitation, not underexcitation.

The reason the number of receptors might be low in the first place is downregulation from too much glutamate.

These rape allegations are from 2016 originally. There's already a court case about it. So, it's both already known and just allegations. That doesn't help us and shouldn't surprise us.
