gtm1260··on How We Built the ARKit Sudoku Solver
Does anyone know how the detection of sudokus on vertical planes can be achieved. Great article esp on the crowdsourcing and machine vision fronts, but the authors explanation of this aspect left a lot to be desired.
gtm1260··on The true cost of an Uber ride is higher than it seems
I agree, there is no way that anyone outside of Uber has accurate figures on the profit/loss of any ride.
gtm1260··on Dell XPS 15 9560 Review
high DPI in windows 10 is honestly such a shit show. Bugs, you have to Log Out and Log back in every time you change settings/monitors! Its honestly unacceptable given how seamlessly macOS and Linux (Fedora at least) handle this sort of thing.
gtm1260··on Here be dragons: the same 3D scene implemented with 10 different 3D APIs
Definitely looks helpful as someone starting to get into Graphics Programming, but I can't wait for the Vulkan version!
gtm1260··on Designing a Bottle
Don't you think its interesting to see the thought process of the people who make what we see in the world. Sure, it is just a bottle, but that doesn't mean that someone didn't put time and effort into making a good one.
gtm1260··on Reddit Is Raising Funds at a Valuation of $1.7B
I agree! It feels like a good portion of the time when I see a new feature on a website it seems like it only exists because all the people needed to create it are employed at the company and we can't have them just sitting around all day.
gtm1260··on Magic Leap Could Be Looking at an $8B Valuation
I think its okay what they are doing. They are competing with Microsoft, Apple, etc... Raise big and play to win I think is a valid strategy, even if it means keeping things secret.
gtm1260··on Free charging stations can hack your phone, here's how to protect yourself
"Even when a mobile phone is in 'charging only' (locked) mode, it can still transmit the device name, vendor name and serial number to the system behind the USB port, and more based on the platform and operating system of the phone," the Kaspersky Lab spokesperson said.

I have to say this seems like a very minor issue. Its pretty much exactly what I would think gets transmitted. No personal data really at all.

gtm1260··on Spurn the computer game industry
Exactly! When I read this headline I thought that this was going to be from a disgruntled developer spurning the industry for the absurd hours and high volatility.
