Isn't that the definition of an MoE model?
gsora··on RTX 5080 and RTX 3090 Setup: 80 Tok/s on Qwen 3.6 27B Q8
Any sane crypto miner undervolted and underclocked their GPUs for efficiency's sake; if anything, they went through less wear than, say, regular gaming.

CS basics.

Putting swaybar at the top behind the notch is a great idea!
gsora··on UEFI shell vulnerabilities allow attackers to bypass Secure Boot
Secure boot-enabled devices allow you to do anything you want, even enrolling your own keys. What's stopping you from doing that?
gsora··on I Made a Mechanical Laptop
Been using my mechanical laptop, an MNT Reform, for a while now, great experience.
gsora··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (March 2025)
Nothing.

Quite frankly, it feels great!

gsora··on Show HN: Wampy, interface addon for Linux-based Walkmans
Ah I should check again then, thanks for the tip!

Re: rockbox, I’m not concerned about them, I’m sure the thing sounds good enough already.

gsora··on Show HN: Wampy, interface addon for Linux-based Walkmans
Neat! I have A55 as well, I wish I had the time to port rockbox to it. I like Sony OS, but having the thing re-scan my library on each reboot gets old quickly
gsora··on The anatomy of a 2AM mental breakdown
This post resembles how I’ve been feeling lately at work, too bad it’s been months like this now!
gsora··on A love letter to bicycle maintenance and repair
One should choose their bike components carefully. I have been able to service every single component on my mountain bike, excluding suspension since that requires knowledge and time I don’t have time to acquire (yet!). As a general rule choosing mechanical components instead of electronic ones has been rewarding on the longevity and repairability fronts. That said some components are consumable, like the dropper post cartridge you mentioned, but to arrive at the point it requires replacement you either used it a lot (I’m jealous!) or it was simply faulty :-/

Might also be a good idea looking for other bike shops in your area. Mine is always trying to recycle and repair components.

They do for games, which now that Proton works so well are actually a reality.
gsora··on ThinMachine – A $25 thin client macOS Time Machine appliance
I explicitly asked for the model/maker of your microSD so that I could :-)
gsora··on ThinMachine – A $25 thin client macOS Time Machine appliance
MicroSD are notorious for being unreliable, especially cheap ones. What MicroSD are you using?
gsora··on Fairbuds XL review: noise-cancelling headphones you can fix
The price on noise canceling headphones is usually an indication of how good they do NC.

The vast amount of Bluetooth NC headphones sound like their 100$ wired counterpart.

gsora··on Ask HN: How does archive.today bypass paywalls?
Sometimes the paywall is nothing more than a couple HTML div’s.

You can programmatically remove them and then return the page.

gsora··on MNT Reform: DIY Portable Computer Goals (2017)
I backed the smaller form factor brother, the Pocket Reform[1].

Can’t wait to have a small hacking laptop to bring in my backpack!

gsora··on Textonly.website
While I do see the argument against JavaScript-heavy websites, I don’t understand why one would want to build a text only website.
gsora··on Tomato-free pizza on the menu as chefs choke on the price of fruit and veg
Pizza without tomato is a treat! It’s typical in Naples and Campania in general: makes good olive oil and mozzarella shine.
gsora··on Gentoo Is a Project Car
I used gentoo exclusively for a couple years on various machines, mostly because of need: I had one of the first revisions of the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X which was plagued with a silicon bug. You could mitigate this issue by compiling the entire system with a recent enough version of GCC and some specific flags. Coming from Arch, I found gentoo to be some order of magnitude more stable, while performance wasn’t that much different. I enjoyed it so much that I ran it on my MacBook Pro retina and an old thinkpad x61s, which took almost two days to compile GCC 6 :’)
gsora··on New Sony Walkman music player
It doesn’t have cellular network AFAIK.

But again, the target users don’t bother with streaming much, the device just so happens to run android, and that makes running streaming apps possible.

gsora··on New Sony Walkman music player
I’m 99% sure you can stream Spotify and similar on it. The last generation of Android-based Walkman can do that just fine.

I think they mention streaming briefly because the target demographic for this device is the kind of people who have their own hi-res files available.

I hope Sony fixed the battery life on those, because the last gen was underwhelming on that front.

gsora··on Ask HN: How do you have fun?
Enduro mountain biking and some form of tennis!
gsora··on Ask HN: Share your personal site
Been writing musings on personal projects and biking very erratically for a few years now, aiming at building up some consistency because I have stuff to say.
