gruelsandwich··on 216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
As an owner of a (2020?) LG WebOS TV, to what degree can I fight this? Any point in trying Pihole with targeted blocking of certain IPs?
gruelsandwich··on The CEO of Mullvad is the main financer of the Swedish Örebro party
Really fighting windmills with the hot takes about things that aren't true. "Sweden actually has a hidden wealth tax" and "The money supply is the real inflation!!"

Really in line with typical views of right-leaning people you see on X etc.

gruelsandwich··on I told them forced consent was unlawful. 5 years later it cost Elkjop €1.8M
Norway has in practice only two big box electronics chains. Not always "pleny of alternatives out there"

Even if you opt out of marketing emails, they can still collect information about you, which is useful
gruelsandwich··on Common Rust Lifetime Misconceptions (2020)
This is what I love about Rust, and other languages with these kinds of constructs. You have to acknowledge that something might e.g. fail. You can choose to do "nothing" (e.g. unwrap), but it must be done explicitly, which makes the ignored cases simple to identify later

In my experience, the "learn Linux"-part of using Arch is the installing/setup process. Over the past three years, I have had things break perhaps three times. All of them were either my own fault (outdatet package) or warned about through Arch News (which I didn't bother to check because it is only necessary a couple of times a year)

That being said, running Arch on a computer that you need to be working at all time, might not be a good idea for professional reasons. However, I think you are essensially making a similiar argument for Arch, as they are making for the Debian bug.

gruelsandwich··on A trip through the Graphics Pipeline (2011)
I don't know how well it applies, but the Coursera course(s) NAND2TETRIS could be what you're looking for. You essentially learn how a computer works from the lowest level (logic gates), to the OS, where the final project is to make a little game. On the way, you also make a simple asslembly language, and a programming language that compiles to the assembly language.
gruelsandwich··on The time has come to remove Facebook from your life (2017)
The only thing that is currently keeping me from deleting my account is the chat functionality, The author makes a good point when it comes to the amount of "friends" you actually care about. My life would probably be no different if I never heard from 90 % of my Facebook friends ever again. However, it will probably be quite difficult to convince my friends to migrate to a different service. Another problem is the rare occation when I have to contact an acquaintance. Without Facebook this would mean going hunting for their contact info, which might be difficult.
