It’s telling how scarce vision is.
I’m sure many here live in delulu land wondering why everyone doesn’t find the open claw stuff as fascinating as they do.
And I’m referring to selling tokens to enterprises that produce software.
The ideal experience is where one’s resources are able to be allocated such that one can achieve some goal with minimal effort. We are very far away from this ideal with llm’s and absurd amounts of money has already been spent.
All the other stuff is nice… but you will continue to be money losing and eventually die.
Now you can’t come out and say this because there’s a whole bunch of investments that depend on hype - think about the robotics nonsense.
Is this really a function of capitalism or just who humans really are in general? That is to say humans are self interested and desire to maximise their own wealth.
If you really believe that then… lol.
You’re taking for granted that we know how things panned out in hindsight. A complete touch screen phone with no fixed buttons at that time seemed nuts.
Edit - lol @ the bozo who downvoted my post. Is that you scam Altman?
“Until the day comes that they properly break out the financials you, nor the other poster have any idea as to what the numbers are.”
Until one of the private firms goes public nobody has a clean view of what the financials of a model business look like.
Lmao don’t talk about subjects you clearly are not an expert in.
The only real metric one can use to gauge new investment is the marginal ROIC. Which is very noisy to say the least.
I reckon most humans never learn the valuable lessons of the past.
As you put it - nobody cares about the technology in and of itself. They care about “ok cool what’s in it for me?”. That’s what determines their decision to purchase/use a thing.
A bit like ad block plus.
Or using open source models.
In hindsight it’s obvious why they pulled it off - nobody else could do it. They all had pieces missing.
Apple seems to follow the values that Steve laid out. Tim isn’t a visionary but he seems to follow the principles associated with being disciplined with cash quite well. They haven’t done any stupid acquisitions either. Quite the contrast with OAI.
The way google did it was very sneaky and pretty smart really. They increased the infiltration of ads slowly over time. How do you do this in a chat interface? It’s a bit too ‘in your face’ and less camouflaged. The moment they get hit with an ad they’ll just go to another model - the switching cost is zero.
