I wonder how much of that is a factor of era-started for the directorial positions. Directors have usually accrued decades of experience in the industry, and thus started their careers earlier when culture was more sexist. I think male-dominated senior positions are going to be phased out much more slowly as a less homogeneous workforce matures.
It has nothing to do with negativity. Maybe OP is accounting for an efficiency loss rate, but they didn't mention it, so I brought it up. What good are inaccurate calculations?
Those Italian buildings were created as highly practical structures at the time, in waterway locations that constrained the geometry of how the city grew, so they have an interesting and historical appearance. Also a lot of the Italian architecture is not a building, but an entire city, not sure those really count.
What use case do you have for your Mac? The benchmarks and battery life have been tempting me, but I use Docker a lot which I'm hearing mixed messages for, and to be honest, my Intel-based work Mac is less palatable to use than my personal Ubuntu setup, especially in regards to workspaces, and some weird Bluetooth issues.
Most people are idiots/lazy, and I say that on both sides (walkers and drivers). I see it more as making a robust solution a law, but doesn't necessarily benefit me to the extent that I want a mandated backup in my car personally.
I don't really remember it being an endemic issue of people getting run over by backing up cars that had that small blindspot. Could have been an issue of unattended children/pets or tall car/short people, but I think it was more a big convenience boost.
Yeah, you're completely right, in fact, GUIs were just a total mistake. Let's just all go back to command-line all the time /s.
When it comes down to it, computers are a means to an end, so why make the means harder than it has to be, especially for someone who doesn't work in an IT related space?
I think that's basically every university. That being said, its just a way to test out of math reqs to hit minimums for starting certain major tracks. No reason someone couldn't take the math courses at university in a general ed. major and then transfer over.
I think it's more that the $4B Hertz order is a big vote of confidence from a big rental car player that signals a higher likelihood of all the other big rental car companies (since this made the news, I'm assuming other big rental car companies haven't done so, or at least on that scale, at least for an "ordinary" vehicle, since a quick search shows you can rent a Model S from Enterprise, but only from their Exotic's section) to follow suite, and a potential ensuing continuous revenue flow for Tesla as these rental cars end their life-cycles and need to be replaced. Of course these are all just possibilities, essentially bets.
I'm on the checkout page of the base starlite (8GB ram, 240GB SSD), and all in to the USA by DHL... it's saying no tax (suck it USgov?), And free DHL worldwide shipping at £318 or $438. I don't NEED a chuckable backup/emergency laptop, but for the Linux-first property, and the price I'm having a hard time resisting. The only downside is that they say the order will be filled mid January of next year, so a long wait.
I'm not sure about that. Spending any decent time in nature has a wholeness to it, it can feel "attuning" to some weird sense of self and how we fit in with it, maybe having to do with an evolved response?
That sounds like a really interesting problem. You'd need microphones good enough, small enough, and cheap enough to hear the signal,
Signals processing/machine learning software robust enough to pick up a user-selected pattern and in a reasonable latency, and then a processor small enough and power efficient enough to process it all while again also being economical enough, and then have it last 8 hours.
I used to push paperwork and send out emails, sometimes analyzing drawings, but not actually use my brain too much as a construction project engineer. As a data engineer, it definitely feels more taxing on the mental side.
I don't think it's a question of "would", it's a question of "why", since that's what's going on right now. You can point to single player paid cosmetics as a profiteering aspect. Greedy executives who care about short-term quarterly sales numbers for bonuses and stock influencing maybe aswell? I wouldn't consider myself knowledgeable of the game industry, but that's one of my bets.
I did a quick check, and it looks like rebar concrete has a lifespan of about 50 years, and I had to check the lifespan of post-tensioned concrete because I suspected it has a shorter lifespan. Most sources are saying 15-20 years for post-tensioned. Any structural engineers able to report in? If that is the case, it's a bit surprising, given how expensive buildings are, although technically I believe post-tensioning can be replaced, but I also imagine that replacement cost would also be high.
Edit: Thanks, civeng, this is a good warning to be aware of validation bias when googling. Here is a paper that cites comparisons of post-tensioned concrete bridges. From the paper:
"As an example, two optimal post-tensioned concrete box-girder road bridges located in an eastern coastal region of Spain were assessed... In addition, maintenance was optimized to ensure that the bridge complied with all the performance requirements during its life-span of 150 years."
Even if you did get into space, unless there was a massive leap in propulsion tech, you'd probably have to be self sufficient doing mundane tasks. You'd have to farm and put up space-bike sheds, and then, yes, paint them.
They did mention that there were mitigations to prevent the knot tied in the wire from scratching the cheek. Would they have taken similar mitigations for a material like animal guts?
"In one of the dentitions, I saw that the tooth was filed a little bit so that the knot that was tied in the wire would not scratch the cheek," Agelarakis said. "It's very sophisticated — it's flabbergasting."
I have no idea either way, and in fact the researcher may have even been extrapolating too far in this case as well.
I don't donate at all. However, I'm just answering to question whether you're going to get a representative distribution of answers from both categories.
