You're making a lot of assumptions there. Is it "blue collar" to only have one working parent while the other takes care of the family? I would think most people would prefer that if they can make it work. I am a fairly well compensated software engineer and my wife stays home to take care of the kids because we can afford it, and many others that I work with do the same. It seems a bit silly to have her work just so that we can pay someone else to raise our children for us.

genuinely asking, how do we actually know the delta variant is real, and is the dominant variant causing the current cases? do people actually get tested for specific variants, or is it just a generic covid test?

I've got a ~10 year old audi with the HDD as well as Dual SD Card Readers. When i first bought it I thought that was absurd, but now that i have it loaded up with multiple 128GB SD cards its actually a pretty good feature.

source on "significantly increased"? children are more at risk from the flu

most landscaping operations are just a couple dudes and a old truck. now they have to buy a top of the line electric F150 to do their jobs?

Well united airlines employees also once beat a man unconscious and dragged him out of an airplane to make room for more united employees. Maybe they hire a different sort of person there.

which brand new rushed vaccine was being mandated 3 years ago?

compelling argument

the "full approval" happened much faster than any other vaccine or medication in recent memory. also the approval was based on the exact same dataset that was used for the EUA, to me that does not inspire confidence

the CDC recently changed their definition of vaccine from (paraphrasing) "something that provides immunity to disease" to "something that provides protection from a disease"

it almost seems like we needed to wait to get more data before forcing people to take experimental vaccines in order to keep their employment

this thing was awesome in the pre smartphone days. i remember feeling pretty cool playing NES roms and browsing wikipedia during giant college lectures

careful, you are getting close to spreading misinformation here...

its obvious that contrary opinions will be banned first with option to appeal coming after. im sure that will be a totally open and transparent process.

>video is a terrible medium for people evaluating information critically

yes, but this is the world we live in currently. getting information from the "factual" videos will still be encouraged

this is legitimately dystopian. only can mention side effects that have been "recognized by health authorities" ? how would whistleblowing even be possible in this environment?

wasn't tons of isis and taliban propaganda being posted on twitter long after they banned the orange man?

i can relate to most of the entries but i don't buy into medication. pretty much everyone would be more productive on amphetamines

these are interesting, but its just a bunch of memes. any tips for managing?

do they have a separate subreddit for the much larger group of people who brag about covid being harmless and then have nothing bad happen to them?

there hasn't been a "long term" yet. it was made available to the general public less than 6 months ago

why is it always presented as though all vaccines are equal? why is it not possible to be supportive of some vaccines and cautious about brand new ones?

this is like making the argument that all medicine is good for you because "medicine" works. some medicines turned out to be very bad for you in the long term.

religious fervor

most of the established timelines are based on "well this is the oldest thing we've found so far". most of it is probably wrong

bitbucket PR is horrible compared to reviewboard

does being laid off count? i got laid off relatively early in my career and it worked out well for me. big severance for a nice month long vacation, found a new job in a few weeks and realized how underpaid i was, and learned to be jaded and cynical in all my interactions with a company from that point forward

when the free coffee stops being free (for upcoming mass layoffs)

the whole "unless eating or drinking" exception makes the whole enterprise kindof a farce

if she had been holding a drink the whole time would it then be OK?

so you are against doctors and prescriptions?

by that logic i should be able to go buy myself a big box of fentanyl for the medical care i've decided that i need
